Mobile service guy came by my house over the weekend and talked to my wife. I was out of town. Left his card. I called him this morning and left a message. For anyone that hasn't had this happen yet, she said he was in a Ford mechanic uniform, driving a Ford with service stickers on the door. His card says he is a certified repair specialists, Ford Motor Company Customer Service Division , Detroit. And the email address is @fordrecall.us

I just had this done becuase of a recall notice I received. They Drivers & passengers airbags are involved in the recall so the dealer will replace them both free of charge. I also had both my side airbags replace those are just a TSB so while they need to be replaced the dealer WON'T do those for free. I've now had all four airbags replaced.

Took mine to dealer yesterday, but as with everything...never do anything on a Friday afternoon (minds on weekend/partying). M-F'ers nicked the shit out of plastic dash piece under aluminum cover (see pics). Not as noticeable in these images, but can see it clearly when sitting in seats...saw it right away when I picked-up car (super OCD w/my toys). Most would probably say "no big deal" but this is my '09 Bullitt show car and was mint (inside/out). This is why I didn't want to do the recall (fear of damage), but got tired of weekly notices fm Ford...bit the bullet and fears came true...

Posting these/this mostly to caution other Mustang fanatics...check out our ride BEFORE and AFTER service work. In my case, a simple piece of painter's tape, and/or rag would've prevented this damage.

I'm so sorry.... This is why if I can't do it myself I am not getting it done.... it's nearly impossible to find new replacement interior parts for these cars and no way am I going to let some hack mechanic touch my car. I've got way too much money sunk into my interior...

I'll just disable the airbag for good and call it done.

I'm weary of this recall too. Taking it in and getting scraped up like the few above. Then reading the official statement is confusing me on what models are part of the recall...

The official Ford Statement from January here says..
https://media.ford.com/content/ford...mpany-issues-two-recalls-in-north-america.pdf

"2010-14 Ford Mustang vehicles built at Flat Rock Assembly Plant, June 8, 2009 to Dec. 16, 2011"

My 2014 says it was built November 2013 on the door so I'm not affected? Putting my VIN into the site says it is but I guess I better do it? Better safe than sorry?

Mine got scratched a little too . . . but only so much that I would notice. If I had to do it again, I'd put painter's tape on it myself before taking it in.

This is the saga I always have, whether working on my car or my house . . . no one else will care enough to be as anal as you. But, many times, you don't have the means to do it yourself for whatever reason.

Ford rep stopped by my house this week to sign me up for an appointment. He will be coming to MY DRIVEWAY to replace both airbags this Saturday. All I did was ask if he could do that and was no problem.
I am in the metroish part of Atlanta....

Any idea the proper way to get that trim off? When I have it done, all the trim is coming off.
I even thought about removing bags and leave them on passenger floor. The less they do the better.

Damn, that sounds too good to be true.
Ford has a program that they have certified techs on the road trying to help expedite getting the Air Bags replaced on Mustangs, Rangers and Older Ford GTs. They come and do it at home or work. I have 2 guys that come to me all the time with customer info. I write a Repair Order, they go to parts and get what is needed. Go meet the customer perform the service. bring the replaced part back and bring me signed paperwork. Simple process and I get paid for them doing work off property.

I owned a 2007 Mustang that was totaled and can't convince Ford is it no longer is in existence, the call, text and mail me shit nonstop. I have talked to the local delayer, the 800# folks, to no avail, I even had the title fixed to come up junked, scrapped or what ever the NCDMV deemed suitable

Had the running, non totaled current 2007 fixed months ago with no issues

They sent me a word search last week. The marketing department or whatever behind this is consistent, and creative; I will say that.

Have a local dealership put a claim on the VIN
