i am putting a clutch in the car and I removed the driveshaft and fluid started coming out of the differential, I have removed hundreds of driveshafts, and never had this happen before but I have never pulled this style out before. IS this normal? My instincts say no. But idk why it would do that, thanks

fluid came out as soon as you pulled the driveshaft or you also removed the pinion yoke?

What is probably happening is the pinion seal is leaking but it's not getting past the flange. I one time removed one of the bolts and had fluid come out the bolt hole of my adapter flange for my driveshaft. When I got the flange off it was all wet behind it.

My pinion seal leaked, local ford dealer fixed that issue about 6 weeks ago. DSS-DS used for years now. Also have an Eaton-Detroit 'tru-trac' LSD + whiteline watts link. Watts link comes with a thick Al differential cover.... with drain + fill plugs. Local dealer drained and refilled the differential with.... synthetic + friction modifier.... which is a big no-no when using the tru-trac. Drained it all out and replaced with 85W-140 dino gear oil. Now it all works again..and back in business. Car is 2010 with aprx 45 k miles. Those drain + fill plugs save a lot of grief. Also have a bob's motor sports differential catch can, on pass side of axle.... with rubber hose to oem overflow vent.

Yeah I was thinking pinion seal leak would cause this but it’s just weird to me that around the yoke is dry, didn’t start leaking until I completely removed the last bolt on the driveshaft, guess I’ll see more $$$$ go bye, bye.

The pinion seal isn't expensive to replace
