10 Speed Automatic issues while on track

Water wetter doesn't do anything. There used to be a write up by Stewart water pumps but i can't find it now. Basically it said, in a pot of boiling water, water wetter will reduce air bubbles. But in a pressurized, turbulent flow cooling system, it has no effect.

Plain water at 15 psi pressure boils at 250F, plenty high enough.

It will make a difference, 20% is not a trivial amount. Exactly how many laps that equates to, is hard to predict (as I said in post #40).

Points well taken. Redline water wetter and similar, typ has an anti-corrosive inhibitor in the
formulation. But an anti-corrosive inhibitor can be added to straight water..as a protective measure.

Looking at Vorshlags old notes (and other's), their eng coolant temp was normal.... but their oil temps were way too high, like 300-330 F...go figure. So in went the oil cooler rad.

It would be very interesting to know what his oil temps are... when the car goes into limp mode.

I have the Kenny Brown/Fluidyne Triple Flow Triple Pass for both radiator and he on the Roush, oddly enough engine cooling has never been an issue on that even with the M90. Only the trans. Amazes me that this new 5.0 with no boost gets hot way faster.

Ford did not put this in any brochure, nothing about it on the website when you configure a car, or nothing in the PP1 or PP2 descriptions. It's also not in the Track Use section of the manual, only place is the introduction.
I also told my salesperson I was going to use the car for track days, even sent them video of me on track with my Roush, salesperson never told me anything about having to add additional cooling and never told me I couldn't use the car on track. All they said was the good things about the track apps.
It also does not say you have to add additional cooling, they say it is suggested...

Actually you can go online and look at the owners manual. Its easy.

I get that, but how many people ever do that before they purchase a vehicle? How many even look at the manual after they purchase it?
Was just talking about this with a friend of mine. He and his wife bought a 2018 Mustang a little over a year ago and I was telling him all the things about track mode, the track apps, and the different thing you could monitor for temps such as Cylinder Head temp, Trans temp, rear end temp.
He had no idea, he'd never looked at his manual or had not really even played with any of the gauges yet. WTF.... I told him he's not a true car guy...

BIR's straight on long track is almost a mile long....

Maybe find a way to bring both cars. Aside from having a "spare car", you'd get extra cooldown time (for both, if you alternate) plus about the best possible opportunity to make direct comparisons between the two cars.

I have definitely been considering that, almost took em both to RA, wish I would have now. But for the first time I purchased track day insurance on the new car, so for what that cost ($300 for the weekend) I was only going to be driving that....

At this point I have to wait and see what happens with Ford, did not receive any response yet. I'm guessing it will be a day or two. I've officially parked the new car until hear from Ford.

I don't think I've ever searched for an owner manual before buying a car, but I do start looking through the hard copy immediately afterward. Can't use your fingers to hold your place on different virtual pages . . .

Though with owner manuals now amounting to several hundred pages, sometimes spread out over two or more separate books, it's an overwhelming task to pick up everything that might matter at some point. Just remembering exactly where you found it is a tall enough order.

I downloaded the PDF manual..... then read it 4 times. print out important pages..then yellow highliner. I want to know more abt it than any sales guy.

Back to ur 2018. The eng rad u have is 1" thicker than non PP1/2 cars. Assuming base rad is 1" thick, ur's should be 2" thick... which is massive. If straight distilled water doesn't work, I'd throw in the towel.

That's a helluva lot of air flowing through the rad...esp at 70-140 mph.

Too bad u can't use the paddle shifters. Then u would use just gears 5-6-7, once out on the track.

Was contacted by a Ford regional rep this morning, they needed me to take my car to local dealer to plug it in to something to get some info before they can proceed any further, dealer said it will only take about an hour so I dropped off the car a while ago and will pick it up this evening.
Has me quite curious as to what they want to see, service manager would not say.

Ive seen that happen before, usually to dig deeper in the ecm and void your warranty. Im not saying thats what is going to happen but it has.

I was talking to an old buddy last week that recently picked up a 19 with the manual trans. He's doing some schools to get his racing license and he was saying it seems like the 10 speed doesn't like the track very much. I don't know how common it is, but maybe it's worth looking into.

He would be correct. It heats up very quickly. Couple sessions I only made it 2 or 3 laps before it would start puking. Between each session I had 1 hour and 15-30 minutes for the car to cool down. Most laps I ever made in a single session was my final session, I went 6 laps.

I would have said you either tell me what your looking for or I talk to the regional rep. And I would have stayed with the car.

Regional Rep would not tell me either, guess its super secret info. I don't have anything to hide so they can look at whatever they want. I have everything in my complaint on video.
