Most of the fails have come from aftermarket tensioners or misaligned blowers. Roush uses an aftermarket tensioner from what ive read. I dont own one so i dont know how true that is.

thanks for the feed back so far.. the car is a manual transmission. I still haven't decided on the car but I like special edition stuff, though, not necessarily tied to a Roush, I have been looking for 11 and up Shelby's but found this car along the way and power wise is comparable with a few upgrades and suspension set up is good on them. I thought the price seems good. But then I saw the ebay 15 posted, So, I don't know.

You may want to read that thread and see how many 5.0's are breaking. Ive seen 3 this week on FB.

You have a link to Gen 1, 5.0's breaking with Roush TVS blowers? That link above was 4.6 SVT's and digging around I could only find threads about prochargers?

4-8 Years ago, I read a lot of postings about folks with 05-10 cars busting front end crank bearing, but they were all paxton's, vortech, pro-charger's....and never PD blower's. It was due to side loading of the bearing..... which still doesn't make sense to me.

I can see a possible case of increased side loading if a dual fead setup was used. That would be caused by.....'bearing overhang'. IE: 2nd fead belt is way out in front of the bearing.

GT-500's use a 6 rib 1st fead.... then a 8 rib 2nd fead..... 2nd fead for the pd blower. I never hear of bearing issues on GT-500's, even when bigger PD blower's are used.

There is some weird anomaly of centri blower's that can create crankshaft front bearing breakage... typ when boost is increased. It might be caused by the typ 70-90 K rpm of the centri blower.

gt500's don't have a 4.6 crank, either.

Yeah. I'm trying to figure out if any of this has to do with the orig car in question from OP?
(since that could also apply to my car, which has about the same engine/blower setup)

I think I'm passing on the 14, if anyone is interested I'll pass along the info. I found a 16 roush stage 3 for not much more. It is an auto though so not sure that's a plus or minus but the car is pretty awesome.

Those autos are pretty great. Car will be a rocket.
I completely disagree that the 10 speed is a great trans. For daily driving yes, maybe. I have it in my 18' and driving around town it seems like it shifts constantly. Pushing it hard it will overheat very quickly, which I did with mine at Road America. It went into limp mode and completely shut car down, and that was just with the stock 5.0, and only after about 6 minutes on track it was already struggling to find a gear. I'm very curious how well these handle 700 hp.
Here you will hear how badly it shifts itself running in Track Mode, and eventually goes into limp mode...

I don't think guy is going to try something impossible like race a cheap auto trans car on a road course, also car would be 6AT.

What is impossible about it? They build the car with a PP1 pkg, put a Track Mode with Track apps on it, and it says "Track Mode is to be used on track only" and I'm not supposed to drive it on track??? You sound as ridiculous as Ford....

I also overheat my 5r55 in my 2010 with a larger trans pan and 20,500 btu trans cooler, my assumption is the 6 speed would be the same thing.....

And it's not racing, its a HPDE track day....

Luckily the 16 has the same 6R80 that has been rock solid for most everyone. Never buy the 1st gen of any car, always end up with bugs.

More than likely it's because most go buy the thought of "the tighter the belt the better". I talked to some that would put the tensioner against the stop and then work the belt on and considered that good. People are trying to make huge boost with small 6 rib pullies and then wondering why they have issues.

Kurgan and Mitchell made braces also. If it wasnt a real problem i dont believe multiple manufactures would make them.
