Upgraded my failing Auto Meter Nexus gauges to AEM X-Series last spring. I had a Ford Racing Volt gauge and decided to replace it with a X-Series gauge as well.

As many of you know I have been after Coyote power since 2011 but the Commander and Chief was not thrilled with the idea of me buying a new car. So, I contemplated a coyote swap into my S197 but given all the complications of getting everything up and running as it should be, I considered that option only as a last resort. I have been joking about getting a new Mustang for several years, but my jokes fell on deaf ears. Then suddenly, the idea of getting a new Mustang did not meet any resistance. As a matter of fact it seemed like a good idea as I had worked hard all my life and if that would make me happy so be it. After all, when we die our children will burn through their inheritance in a flash! Firstly, let me say how wise the Commander and Chief is as she waited for the 10 speed automatic and Gen 3 Coyote before giving the green light. Let’s be clear, a new car was out of the question, so it had to be a used one or demo and I was excepted to sell my beloved 08 GT/CS. She did understand my 08 was highly personalized and would take a considerable time to find the right buyer.

While I am very happy with the new Mustang, I think one of you guys must have told the Commander and Chief the 2020 GT500 was about to come out and that for the first time the GT500 would be an automatic. Thanks a lot whoever it was as I can’t buy another Mustang until 2028!

My shopping list for an 18 was: GT Premium, Performance Pack Level 1, 10 speed automatic, safe and smart package, premium sound system and preferably, you guessed it, red in colour. I ruled out the magneride suspension as I would inevitably bag the car and active valve exhaust would be a nice to have option but not mandatory. Found a car in November that meet my criteria and was able to make a deal on "Orange Furry".

Since the GT/CS had to be sold I was going to take the Air Lift out, sell the front struts, rear bags and shocks. This would leave me with the 3P control system, manifold, tank etc., to transfer over to Orange Fury. Sold the bags and struts immediately to a friend I know that wanted to be bagged and I ordered S550 bags and struts for Orange Fury.

Posted on FB that I was transitioning from my 2008 GT/CS to a 2018, my post received many comments on how it was a shame I had to sell my 08 after all the work that had been put into it. Well the Commander and Chief saw the FB comments and changed her mind as after all the only cost to keeping the 08 was insurance. At this point I am now living the dream with three generations of Mustangs in the garage, a 70 Boss 302 to work on, a 2008 GT/CS for car shows and a 2018 GT Premium for cruises.

Well I have already sourced a used set of struts and bags for my 08 and we should be all ready to go again in the spring.

Will start a second build thread for Project Orange Fury soon.

Congratulations !!

on both the new car and understanding wife

Ironically at lunch told my wife the Mustang or Shelbs as she likes to call her is headed into the shop on Monday, have a couple of shot idler pulleys and SC needs to be pulled to access them. She said what about a new one and i said cant sell the current one for what i have in it. She said keep it and get a new one.....

Not happening anytime soon as we still have 2 car payments (2016 Ram truck and 2016 Mazda 3) but nice to get the go ahead.

Congrats on the car. I'm in a very similar situation as you and my wife gave me the ok to get a different car, but we're currently in limbo on whether we can keep the current Roush as well or sell it. If we keep it the wife has to give up her garage space for winter to store the mustang, which she does no like doing. When we bought the Roush we had an 02 GT that we kept for a year, then she had us sell it for the same reason.... but now she likes the Roush and does not want to see it go....

Oddly enough one of my good track friends recently traded his Roush Black Jack for a similar 2018 Orange Fury, and I'm currently looking at a 2018 Orange Fury, w/performance pack 1, guess it's a popular color now....

Must be a popular color, guy at my work has that exact car except with a stick and the black trim package.

I'll upgrade one of these days! Maybe when we have more space so I can actually keep my car and still get a new one. I know mine won't be worth much if I ever went to sell it, I have some money in not-easily-removable mods and it turned over 100K last year, would rather hang onto it.

Having a blast with the S550, bagged it over the winter and I absolutely love the 10 speed auto. The Commander in Chief is actually coming around to liking the Orange Fury color.

Replaced the Air Lift Shocks with Viking Crusaders.

Add a painted engine cover and a few carbon fiber pieces.

Also picked up this little GT for the car show circuit.
