Those of you that used glasspacks as resonators...what length did you use?

Thinking about switching up my setup a little, I have been fighting exhaust leaks with the butt connection at the rear of the H pipe every since I put on headers. Wanting to run some of Jeg's ball & socket joints there (with a lap joint at the H pipe), with glasspack resonators, as I want to put my MBRP axle back back on and take out some of the raspiness.

I used dynomax bulletts 3/3 in out as reso's- because my mbrp was 2 loud on the gen 1 motor with a orx, 1-7/8" headers, was noticeably less loud with the gen 2 but maybe that was because there was more blower noise with the big red open. switched same time as the the gen 2 shortblock

I use 19" resonators from eBay.
Reason I go cheap is because there is a high probability that I will blow them up with fireballs every year or so.

They are stainless though, learned my lesson after blowing up a set of $80 magnaflows.
Rather go through $70 bucks than $160

Pypes M80's...from AM....and 'cheap'. Aprx 14" long....(4" diam). Made from 304 SS... still shiny after several years. Slots cut off at each end. Then welded in.... just b4 rear axle. Drone 90% gone. They reduced the overall level by a bunch. ( it was way too loud b4). They will get rid of raspiness, trumpeting, etc.

Glasspacks are made from a combo steel + alumium..per their site. They are not the best quality.

Local mustang buddy used cherry bombs on the ends of his LT's on his 426 hemi...on his mopar. Red paint burnt off in < 2 weeks. Insides were burnt out within 1 month. Same deal, aluminized steel alloy used.... almost the same as what's used for dryer hoses.

My M80's didn't do shit. Oh well.

I plan on building a merge box where the H is, and I'm going to add a sprung gate that will open when the car backfires hard to save the other components. Sealing will be a problem... which is why I should use oval tubing and go out the pass side so even if it leaks I don't notice. Then the backfire all goes out that dump... make a sprung steel valve that's normally closed. Heck it could even open during operation... i'm describing a non vacuum referenced wastegate type thing.

I'm going to buy stainless glasspacks.

So I currently have some Magnaflows on my stock over-axle pipes, which are no longer on the car. I originally ran them with the aforementioned MBRP's for a bit, but with the Magnaflows they are just too quiet. I now have ebay mandrel bent over-axle pipes on the car, tried the MBRPs with those and they were just a little too loud (but sounded great). I can't remember but I think the Magnaflows I have may be the same size as the aforementioned M80's so I probably need something smaller.

Was eyeing some stainless glasspacks on Amazon, some have a 10" body some 12", just not sure what size to go with.

Sounds like you could use something like what's on the side of the big BDS style blowers.

I stuck some 12" old school Cherry Bombs under there right before the axel.

I settled on some 12" (overall) stainless glasspacks that I found on ebay. Hopefully they will do the trick. I measured my Magnaflows and they are the 14" case, 4" round ones so I definitely need something smaller.

make sure to let us know if they do very much, I am reinstalling my stock mufflers, building a merge, and putting a 3" cutout onto the side of the merge dumping under the car. With the cutout closed, the clutch switch for the wot box will be disabled, not allowing it to function. Open cutout and let the sparks fly.
