Hello folks i need a bit of advice, I would like to get the side rear marker lights working on my car.
The SVA disconnected them for its SVA when it was new. Ive managed to get the front grill lights working by finding the plugs and reconnecting them Ive moved the side Lights back in to the clear front light markers as they were hanging down in the head lights.
So now to the rear side markers. I have read that the smart junction box can be damaged by overloading if lights are not connected correctly. saying that could I piggyback 1 positive wire from each non brake light bulb to the side marker light using a 6 watt bulb in the fitting so adding 12 watts overall to the SJB any thoughts please. I know its an MOT fail but that can be sorted for the mot I think the cars look great with the running lights. Thanks Russ

What is the SVA? And I would think it would be ok to run them off the front marker lights. Do they go into that much detail at an inspection to actually check the wiring if something is working? Or are the actual side markers the MOT fail?

Hello sorry I meant to say i am in the UK. When the car was imported it went through an inspection to make it UK legal called a single vehicle approval SVA, so things like the side marker lights front and back disconnected, the lights in the front grill disconnected, turn signals fitted to the front fenders and converting the reverse lights to amber turn signals, fitting a rear red fog light. The wiring to the car was cut and removed, so I want to find a way of reconnecting the running lights in the back but not damage the SJB. The mot in the UK is just like a tech inspection but every year over here and I am reconnecting the stuff they disconnected but i can get around that at mot time by taking the bulbs out etc. I want to get the car back to how it should be if you see what I mean Thanks Russ

Theres not much wiring back there under the car evap, liscense plate vanity and rear side markers. Find the wires/plugs should be above the axle. If they were cut gets some wire and plug pigtails.

FYI the rear side marker light wires were run thru the rear bumper wiring harness along w\ the license plate light. This is easier to get to if you remove the rear bumper cover from the car.

Hope this helps.

Just dawned on me......you may not have to remove the rear bumper cover as these rear side marker light wires may have been cut\disconnected at the harness connector plugs that is located behind the rear trim cover inside the trunk as this is much easier to get to than removing the rear bumper assembly & you'd have to remove this trim cover to remove the rear bumper cover anyway.

FYI...……………….
