So cams must be locked on the Coyote. Love the 3V hatred, LOL.

If you want to run boost, I don't know a swap is that great.

No doubt it makes more HP in stock trim than a 3V, whether NA or blown.

But, DOB has great right up about how the 3V is limited to 450RWHP for mechanical reasons. Forge it, and then you can turn up the boost and make serious power . . . with it starting to be limited on pump gas for octane reasons about 17-18 PSI. Getting over 700 at the wheels is doable.

Any used Coyote engine is limited in the amount of boost it can handle because it is such a high compression motor (unless you get the low compression aluminator variant). So, it can't safely handle more than 11-12 PSI, which doesn't allow it much more than the 3V

Am I missing something? The pro-Coyote and anti-3V talk is almost seems internet urban legend at this point.

stock pistons and boss rods at 10-12.5 psi for a year now... I wish I knew how much power my 3v made. Way more than enough...

We are in a time where the engine size has more or less become irrelevant. The broad proliferation of unnatural aspiration has made big engines and high tech engines far less important to power production.

Fact is the 3V is a great engine. The 5.0DOHC is a superb engine. But on a street car either can make way more than someone can put down.

Yes the DOHC will make the same power more easily, but the difference isn't that great ultimately.

Every man and his dog is doing Coyote swaps these days. It's undeniably an awesome engine but the 3V is still a great engine in its own right, and it would be nice to see more people doing 3V builds instead of defaulting to a Coyote swap.

So . . . it is my intention to build "big power" in my 08 in coming years. Right now, I'm on a stock 3V with a KB stage 1 and headers. I have already done the suspension and installed a T56 with RST and one-piece driveshaft . . . so I'm about ready.

Point here, I have been doing A BUNCH of research on my options. Originally, I had thought I could look to an MMR build 3V and upgrade the blower to a KB mammoth with the DOB manifold. Could then sell my low mileage 3V with the Stage 1 blower as a unit and recoup a little bit of cost.

But, I have started looking into other blowers and other engine options . . . which is when I came across DOB's article about the Coyote's limitations because of compression.

Bottom line, if you build the 3V, you can get into the big power range and only become limited by fuel and the blower's cooling capability.

With the Coyote, you run into issues with compression unless you buy an aluminator . . . which is more expensive than a 1000 HP capable MMR 3V.

I might be missing something . . . still researching. Might also consider a 5.8 swap out of a 13/14 GT500.

MMR you say?...... Do a search on the site for MMR's reputation here. Or I'll save you the trouble. You will find 99 "fuck MMR" posts very any positive post. I've read horror story after horror story about MMR.

LOL, yea, I know. Just looking at approximate costs of different options. Will make a decision based on reputation and such as I get closer.
