2010 was a transition year. Has the same drive trains as the 2005-2009 cars, but similar looks to that of the 2011-2014 years. If you want a 2010+ style car, don't get a 2010.

The V6 in the 2010 is the same 4.0 as the 2005-2009. Most parts are going to be the same, but I believe some of the exhaust parts may be specific to that year. Can anyone confirm?

2010 was a crossover year so the engine, drivetrain, and brake parts will be common to the '05-'09 V6 while chassis and suspension parts will be common to the '11-'14 V6.

For exhaust you can either look specific for the 2010 (which may be limited) or look for stuff for the 2005 to 2009. The only place you may have a slight issue is the rear valance where the exhaust tip exits from under the car. The 2010 rear bumper overhang is about an inch or so longer than the 2005 - 2009. On the GTs I know you can work with the mufflers and the clamps to compensate for most of the overhang so the tips stick out from under the car as designed. I would guess the same is true for the V6. Everything else under the car; hangers, clamps and pipe lengths/diameters should be the same as in the earlier models. I have a 2010 GT and typically look for 2007-2009 for mechanical parts and 2011-2012 for body and interior parts.

'10 was really a screw job to anyone that bought one. When I first saw the 10's I was like "WOW that looks awesome!" If you bought one and then 6-8 month later Ford drops the news that the 5.0 DOHC is coming out, you most definitely uttered "MOTHER FUCKER!!!" and cursed Ford. Even the V6 guys could say the same. I mean they had a 210 hp truck engine and then BOOM 305hp high revving world class V6.

trying to learn about this generation and mine does exhaust upgrade already with from what im understanding the gt rear valance to accept the exhaust. question about the stereo in this. Is there 3 version of the shaker ? why i am asking is i want to say i seen ones that say shaker 500 and ones that say shaker 1000 but mine just says shaker. There is no 500 or 1000 on mine. From what im learning is the 500 foes not have the amp and subs in the trunk. Is that the only differences ? Mine also has the sensor by the dash vent and the sensor on the trunk. but what sux is that Ford no longer supports the "Sync" in my car. would be nice to utilize its features but swapping out the head unit looks pricey. Mine also has the controls on the steering wheel

What wheels are those? They don't look like any factory Mustang wheels I've ever seen. Explorer maybe but Explorer wheels have the wrong hub bore to fit Mustangs right without modification.

05-09 to 10 differences:

Interior:
Dash cluster is different.
Dash layout changed.
Headlamp switch is different.
Steering wheel has radio controls now.
Door panel & controls layout is different.
Front seats are different.
Center console is different.
HVAC Bezel is different.
HVAC controls and layout is different.

Radio layout and controls are different. There is a double din FORD radio behind
the bezel, with no face plate on it. That runs to the display center and buttons.
The Shaker system just says "SHAKER" on the bezel. Doors will have the subs
for the 500. Trunk subs, then it's a 1000.

Exterior:
Hood is different, but fits 05-09.
Trunk lid is different.
Front and rear fascia changes, front will fit 05-09.
Accented body lines at the center of the door handle, from the fender, door and to rear quarter.
Rear view side mirrors, changed shape.
Tail lamps, headlamps, and side markers are different.

Not sure when this change was made, but the front lower control arm ball
joints have a larger diameter shaft that clamps into the steering knuckle.

2011 was the change to electric steering.

Other than that, all suspension and drive-train parts are the same as the 05-09.

Doors and fenders will also "fit" 05-09.

Rear quarter is contoured different at the bumper cover lines, so it won't fit the 05-09
without major body work.

I am sure there is something I missed, but you get the general idea...

Thanks for all that info 08MustangDude. I see where people have up for sale stuff for 05-09 and then 11-14 wasn't sure why but now i am learning. lol. I got in my car today and the passenger side floor was a little damp and it rained last nite so after work im going to have to check the drain holes under the black plastic piece at the bottom of the windshield.

There, and where the cowl covers snap into the grommets. There is
a TSB on all the leaks. I sprayed mine with clear flex-seal. Covered the
just slots where the cowl covers snap in, with tape, then sprayed them all
and the perimeters with clear flex seal. Ford sells a replacement grommet
kit. You need a heat gun to set them, if you replace them.

Once you get past 2010, then compatible parts with 05-09, 10, start to drop.

You can, for instance, use a 2011-2014 spindle on the 05-09, and use the
new lower control arms. You could install the doors and fenders from the
10+ to 05-09, but they won't match the rear quarter... You will have more
in common body and interior wise with 10-14 cars. Your drive-train, is
05-09. Your drive train is not compatible with 11-14... Don't know why
Ford did that, I mean, that was a real bad move making an oddball car like
that.

Best thing to do before you want to mod or update, is ask...
