The E250 (E-Series) 4.6 version is rated at 225 Horse power, 286 ft-lb torque, and
it is not a 3V motor, it's 2V. They all are from from 1996-2014.

How do you like the cams? Hows the idle and stop and go traffic driveability? How about power, is it flat at low rpms, like around 3000 rpm, or is it good at 3k and builds from there?

Detonation can be a risk but with decent fuel and less aggressive timing it can work. High revs is what kills most of the supercharged 3Vs. I ran on a stock block for years and typically kept the revs below 6000 rpm and I never had an issue at 480 whp. The rods are the weak link and have a limited fatigue life. Every time you rev it high, it takes a little life away. I think the rod load to rpm relationship is the power of 3. So 10% more revs, is 33% more load, or similar to that.

My car won't detonate unless I fill it with 87... knock sensors work.

Cams have a noticeable idle, ie: a car person will notice but your grandma probably won't. Stock drivability. Car pulls very hard everywhere. My limiter is at 6700, shift at 6500.

I'm surprised nobody apart from GlassTop09 has considered swapping in a pair of Lunati Voodoo 21270700 cams. They produce the higher rpm power gains you'd expect from NSR cams (~25rwhp peak to peak) but seemingly without the lower rpm torque loss.

My friend has decided to go with a rebuilt motor vs swapping in a used one. Thanks for all the input.

They are almost exactly the same as Comp Cams 127200 NSR Stage 2 NA

Comp 222 / 235 .450" / .450" 115.5
Lunati 225 / 237 .450" / .450" 116.0

What little difference there is, would give the edge to the Comp cam for low rpm torque

Somehow GlassTop09 has managed to avoid any lower rpm torque loss and I think that's down to the tuner.
