I have a 2008 mustang V6 I have had for about a year now. about a month ago, when the heater or defrost was on, the fan/air would just shut off randomly. I noticed when it does this it still has power lights on the dials, but none of the buttons along the bottom will light up, if pushed they do nothing. A Google search suggested the blower motor resister, if it was only working on the high setting, but mine works normally on all settings when it decides it wants to turn on. Sometimes I'll be driving and it will turn on for one quick blast and then turn off again, or sometimes it will work as normally for a day or two. Any help would be appreciated, I love my car so much and I try and take good care of her, But I can't afford to just throw parts at it... any suggestions?

The blower resistor generally will only work on high setting. It can still be the resistor though as it is overheating. Sounds more like the Blower Motor itself. If you confirm the motor, I would also do a Resistor for insurance.

I never thought of the resister as over heating.... that makes sense tho, it seems to work more often in cold weather. It just feels like either a connector somewhere or a fuse possibly, cause when it turns on, all the settings work, it blows hot and cold, it works perfectly.... I Have a blend door actuator in the dash that has been bad since i got it, and when ever the system powers up that starts clicking, and then everything shuts off again... I guess i will try the resister and if that doesnt work find a blower motor from the junk yard or something

ACtually its only 70 bucks for both i guess, i will order them together and replace it this weekend, I'm assuming its accessed from under the dash on the passenger side..or do you have to take the whole dash apart
