Shit they're just killing off everything.

Though TBH I haven't subscribed to many magazines in a long time...the ones I always found most entertaining to keep and read later were Car Craft and Hot Rod. I had a subscription to MM&FF for several years but once the new 5.0 came out that was all they covered and I kinda lost interest.

Weren't they getting shut down a couple years ago? Or was that another magazine? I haven't had a subscription in forever anyway. I lost interest when it became one big ad.

I gave up my subscription years ago as it was full of stuff I didn't care about. But it is the end of an era.

Online is a major part of the downfall, but so is the lack of content. When the content all became tail light installs and obvious paid product installs, I tapped out. Also they went so deep on the 3V and then got high on the 5.0 DOHC while almost totally ignoring the pushrod guys, that a bunch of people just went elsewhere.

Ahh that sucks, I still buy magazines even though everything is on the net, just something different flipping through pages of a magazine and reading.

I still walk through the magazine aisle when the wife wants to go to the bookstore. But the car stuff just isn't that interesting any
more. Seems to be more about bullet lug nuts and fancy lights anymore.

Sad to see it go. That magazine was a big part of me getting into modding cars, I still remember the first issue I bought at a 7-eleven back in 1994 when I was 17.
A lot has changed since then.

Yeah that's how I was feeling about MM&FF...it seemed like it was 50% ads, and then 35% feature cars. Not much tech.

I actually still have the first issue of MM&FF I bought in 1998- it was the one where they took the 2.3L automatic coupe LX and threw a 150 shot of nitrous on it trying to blow it up, but just kept melting plugs. Ironically I got that issue maybe 6 months before I ended up with my first car, a 1990 2.3L LX.

The death of magazines with a lot of tech content started with the end of Sport Compact Car. The old 5.0 magazine used to have some decent tech, but it got shit canned a couple years ago, too. I want hard-core tech in my car magazines, not 4 articles in a row about wheels, tires, and halo headlights.

One of the Vinnie Kung specials.
The product was much better when they had journalists with personalities-you could usually tell who wrote the article based on style. Lately, the articles are written by advertising 'bots who still miss basic spelling and word-use errors.
2 years ago, I met someone at a car show with a 97 cobra and they followed to recipe from MM&FF project car, Superfly-Destroyer Of Hideous Camaros (DOHC for short). I thought that was pretty awesome as it was a dream of mine to do something just like that.
My favorite project car was THWNN (The Horse With No Name), that was ahead of the curve to do a turbo build back in 1994.

Yeah that sucks, I've been a subscriber on and off for 25+ years. In the early days the magazines were about 1/4" thick and full of great content and tech info, the later issues got so thin and had next to no content, which is why I let my subscription expire last year. I do hate to see this happen though, I much prefer sitting down and reading a magazine vs. digital version on my phone, it's just not the same. Oh well I guess I'm getting old!

Just the other day I picked up a copy of the current mag and it was 80 pages of pretty much nothing.

Amazing how Truckin' is getting shut down. I grow up reading that magazine.

I'm surprised they lasted this long as most people just read articles from the sites. I haven't subscribe to a magazine in like 10 years either.
