For the past couple weeks my car has had the bad alternator and dying battery symptoms. Finally got a no start which appear to be a dead battery. Starter clicked but not enough juice to crank over. Replaced the battery free of charge under warranty and put a new alternator and added an extra power wire to the battery and ground wire from the alternator mounting boss to the chassis while I was at it. Still no start, alternator solenoid would click but not enough juice to turn over. Picked up a new re-man starter from the parts store an now its GTG.

So lesson learned is stock starter lasted a long time and the solenoid would still click making you think the starter is OK when it really isn't. Of all the starters I've replaced in my lifetime it's usually the solenoid failing first, not the starter itself.

Brushes in the motor wear out eventually.

On the motor the only that's failed is the alternator, the water pump, the starter, and the heater hose/pipe o-rings. I love my 3-valve and I'll keep driving it till it comes apart.

Suspension components, rear axle, and transmission/clutch stuff is another story. But I can live with those problems as most of it was caused by pushing it too hard.
