Hello! been searching but can't come up with this specifically.
I am thinking coil packs are getting tired but need a second opinion.

I have a wotbox and when I hit the two step lately the car sounds and feels rough in the rpm's after I get off the two step. it clears up after a few seconds but I don't remember it doing this before.

is it the coil packs having trouble recovering from the shenanigans? they have 137k on them and been raced it's whole life.

Time for a refresh?
been researching if coil packs do lose performance over the years and no hard opinions either way apparently. Other than when using the two step the car has been running great with no misfires.

following in case the engine is blown up- I haven't used my wotbox yet but am preparing a cutout so I can run it and not blow my mufflers to bits.

IMO I cannot understand how a coil could ever get "weak," they seem to be binary devices to me.

HAHA, yea only thing I've ever blown up is mufflers with it.

Sooooo I went ahead and bought no coils, I don't know where I got that they can wear out but maybe they can't?

Anyway new coils and it still does it! so that's good now I have a set of spare good coils lol. (waste of $300)

So I think I fouled the plugs.
I was trying a cheaper platinum plug for a bit I guess it doesn't hold up like the iridium ix i was using. I will change the plugs this weekend with the ones I've been using for years NGK 372's

Coils can get weak after a while. The wiring probably breaks down internally. I had an issue of getting a misfire under boost. Never threw a code, but it kept getting worse. New COPs fixed the issue.

I'd say you're due for plugs. Two step and racing isn't easy on plugs. You can't go by the normal maintenance intervals when you're being hard on things.

Yea makes sense, well I figured it out and it wasn't even a problem.
Put new plugs in SAME THING, well the only thing I changed that made this happen was putting the 2 step at 2500 to test it quietly.
Apparently the ECM throws a cel for using the twp step at that RPM. So I raised the two step to 3k and it still did it, I raised ti to 4k and it didn't do it anymore, I guess 3k and below is slow enough for the ECM to call it some bad misfires and throws a CEL and puts the engine into a shitty mode.

2 step at 4k, nothing bad happens even after 5 seconds or so.
Lesson learned, money wasted!

haha thanks fellas!
