Greetings from SC! I manged to land my dream job as a Territory Sales Manager for Edelbrock 6 months ago, and next week I'll be installing a Stage 2 Supercharger with the help of Pro Dyno in Rock Hill. I'll post the dyno results, a few pics and comments on how the install went. If y'all have any questions just let me know. Should end up close to 485 RWHP and 445 ft lbs of torque if all goes as planned.

Tell them they need to make us 3 valve guys a good set of heads and a game-changing intake like the original performer 5.0L EFI manifold.

That sounds like a fun job!

Congrats on the job. That’s awesome! I may have missed it but what car is this going on? Just curious about the car. I want a FI mustang real bad. My 2008 runs great stock but has 150k miles and not sure it’s wise to supercharge with high miles.

re: Supercharging high mileage 3v motors... If it's running good, has decent compression and little/no blowby I don't see why not. I did a stock 2006 GT last summer w/140K on it and it's running fine. I used a DOB setup and had it tuned by Lito. So far, so good and very reliable. And having the new found power makes it all the more worthwhile. Of course, it's an investment (~$5K-8K depending on who you go with and what else you do to it). If you do go with Edelbrock I highly recommend looking at substituting the base heat exchanger for a much larger unit (Say, out of a 2013). It'll help keep the IAT's down and run cooler which translates to more power when you need it.

Boost makes a 3v a different animal. Broadens out the torque curve and makes breaking the rear end loose very easy. Congrats!

IMG_3138 (1).jpg I did my own install 3 years ago on my 05 with 48K. Since then, Ive added cam, headers, and exhaust. Three months ago, I converted to E85 and raised boost up to 8 pounds. Haven't dyno`ed new setup yet. I had Lito tune the car after a real crappy experience with Brenspeed. What a difference!
Since you are with Edelbrock, you will be the perfect person to answer my question. I called their customer service, but couldn't get a definitive answer.
Does the top of the E-Force unit come off easily so the intercooler can be removed and cleaned? There has been an air filter on it of course, but with the PCV going into the engine after the throttle body, I believe there must be some buildup on it? Can you help?

I had prodyno tune my 09 with a DOB and M122. I ran his tune for a few weeks and went to Lito. Not trying to knock the guy, but Lito did a much better job.

Ford Performance and Holley Sniper intake manifolds are already available for the 3V, and you can delete the CMCVs on the stock manifold. What would you want from a newly introduced aftermarket intake manifold that you don't already have now? Same goes for the heads?

Specifically?
1. An intake that is bolt-on ready and doesn't completely sacrifice torque in the 3500-5000 rpm range. something with a large plenum, mid-length runners (between stock and Ford racing length) and no ribbing or other flow obstructions that are in the stock intake. The holley sniper is a poorly engineered POS that has been on the market for years but has not caught on because it had problems on launch and Holley couldn't even answer simple questions about their own part. Edelbrock manifolds have not had those kind of issues since I have been alive.
2. A head with replaceable cam bearings, 37mm intake valves, re-shaped intake port with much less material around the spark plug boss. Exhaust port should have a deeper pocket, especially on the long side above the exhaust valve.

Edelbrock has always been a leader in performance parts, I'm sure they have the expertise to do better than the current offererings on the market. I don't expect to see them at this point with the 3v being out of production for so long now but whatever

Congrats on the job and the Super Charger.

I live in Charlotte and I'm eyeing a stage 2 or 3 Edelbrock for my 2014 GT. I've briefly discussed getting a tune from Pro-Dyno Dan (Owner/Tuner).

I also requested a quote for the install/tune from Brenspeed using their guest house, but haven't received a reply yet.

If Dan does a good job on your car, I want to hear all the particulars. It may convince me to do the install locally, or it may chase me off.

Best of luck...

Do not drive all the way to IN for an install. It is very easy. I am not a mechanic and was able to do the install myself. Any local mechanic can do it for you if you can’t do it yourself. The important part is the tune. You will need a SCT tuner at some point if you run boost. You will want to be able to datalog so stay away from Brenspeed. Give VMP a call.

I know how to install it. The problem is I'm disabled, have no garage to work in and very little tools. I also want to do some other upgrades at the same time, primarily OPG/Sprocket, possibly headers.

I have an SCT X4 already, that's not an issue. I was considering Pro-Dyno for the work, but I don't want to pay an extra $500 for his tune (actually, that the price for a NA tune, FI is much higher), considering what others had said. So I'm labor shopping...

Since you are going to be doing a bunch of major mods at one time, I suggest looking into what a `14 needs to run on E85. My 05 only needed a larger, 400lph, fuel pump. $65. You'll produce at least 10%-15% more HP, and do it with a larger safety factor because of the higher octane and cooling effects of the ethanol.

That’s not practical for me at all. There aren’t any stations near me in NC that sells it. I’d have to drive to SC every time I need fuel.

If he's in Western NC, then he's right, there are basically no e85 stations around there. I have had mine on e85 and went driving up that way and couldn't find it anywhere.

Even if the closest station is 10 miles away, it could be highly impractical to run every day. But for track days or even blasting around on the back roads, the returns are worth it. Plus, he all ready has the SCT. It’s just a question of switching tunes.
