For a mustang, how many and what type of spokes would you say looks the best?

Imo, I like thick 5 or skinny 6, maybe a split 5. split 6 or y 6 starts to look too busy, especially the 20 cross-spoke forgeline LS3C or the elaborate split 5 y spoke wheels like the forgeline AL 203. Those look way better on imports or exotics. I prefer the wheels to add to the look of the car, not to be the whole look of the car. I like the Rovos Durban gloss black.

The 20 spoke thing I mentioned, I've even seen 72 spoke wheels:

I already hate cleaning the double five-spoke of the stock premium wheels. I might honestly go with a simple skinny six. makes cleaning easy and I can show off my big brakes.

I have seen some ugly 5 spokes, and some nice 5 spokes. Same with any number of spokes. I guess I'm saying its hard (for me, at least) to say I like a specific number of spokes. I have the AMR wheels on my car now, because they are cheap and look pretty good, but it could be said they have 14 spokes (or 7, depending on how you look at it).

The biggest problem with more spokes is cleaning the wheels. I hate cleaning wheels.

There is definitely a high drudgery factor to wheel cleaning. I suppose that's a reason there are so many wheel-specific cleaner products on the market. I hesitate to use any of them: If they are strong enough to do a good job, they might do some kind of damage to the unprotected parts of the wheel, hub, or brakes. One procedure I've found is—oddly—worthwhile: Clay bar the visible surfaces. I took the wheels off, one-by-one, washed, clay-barred, polished, waxed them. Surprising how much difference it made in appearance, and, for the most part, dirt washed off with a spray from the hose. Your brand and style might not yield such pleasing results, but on my (now gone) Saleen Parnelli Jones Edition, powder-coated black ones, the investment was definitely worth it. Haven't tried it on the PP1 wheels yet, but it's certain that at least one of them will get the treatment soon.

PS: These seven-spoke wheels look good to me. I wouldn't want more, but fewer will be OK, as well.

I know what you mean about cleaning! I dont take wheels off just to clean them, but do swap wheels a few times a year. Thats the time to clean and detail them for sure, off the car!

I hate cleaning my wheels... Especially since I'm ocd and clean the inside barrels too, which is even harder with my big brakes now. Lol
