With all the extra time I have I've been watching a lot of YouTube (and other stuff). I found 2 Jay Leno's garage episodes that warrant sharing and watching.

Listen to the mechanical symphony or noises. Amazing sound.

These engines are just 2.3 and 2.5 liters.......

For the Bugattti skip to the 11:25 mark. Go back if you want to learn more about the car.

For the Alpha Romeo skip to the 10:54 mark. Go back if you want to learn more about the car.

Jay has some very cool stuff.
He has a very unique windmill, 3 vertical blades, spins on a vertical shaft. Wind direction does not matter.
There is probably a youtube vid on it, but I dont feel like searching lol

Did you hear the ear porn those engines make! An auditory orchestral masterpiece.

Not accessible at the moment. Even VFH, I have to sit in front of my work computer. Micromanagement squared, and there is not much work to do.

Both of those are very cool! Sound is awesome. I especially like the whine of, I'm assuming the transmissions?

Yes straight cut gears in the Bugatti for sure, maybe the Alpha too.

If I was going to spend $250,000 on a supercar or either of these true perfect exact replicas, it's be one of these. Way cooler.

This reminded me of one of my favorite engines of all time. The 1910 Fiat S76 (The Beast of Turin) has a 28.3 liter 4 cylinder. Basically each cylinder is the size of a big block motor. Crank it up and listen to this thing.

Holy crap. 1913. 135 MPH. 128 at 1000 RPM. Amazing. I wonder what happens when that chain lets loose?

I had to look this engine up.

"The S76 had a 4-cylinder engine with a displacement of 28,353 cm3 (1,730.2 in3) (190 mm × 250 mm)(7.48in x 9.84in), providing 290 metric horsepower (210 kW) at 1900 rpm, compressed air starting with 3 spark plugs per cylinder, ignition with low voltage magneto, water cooling, transmission with chain, axle suspension rigid with front and rear leaf springs (rear longitudinal struts), and 4-speed gearbox plus reverse gear.

The S76 had a maximum speed of 132.27 mph (213 km/h)."

7.48" bore and 9.84" stroke!!!!

210 kW is about 281 hp. At 1900 rpm 281 hp is 776 ft-lbs. yikes

The two Pur Sang cars are amazing. You're right about the sound, absolute music. A little supercharger whine and a lot of straight cut gears.

On that Alpha Romeo Video, how cool would it be if Jay, instead of waving, had been giving people the finger?

There is no replacement for displacement! Cubes make torque. Any questions? :)

What really stuck me about the two Pur Sang cars was the engines, while inline 8 cylinders, made glorious deep sounding noises from such small displacements.

Here's the Alpha engine. Just gorgeous.

Yes, amazing.
When I was growing up we had an old compressor that had an inline 6 driving it. But it wasn't small displacement. I remember tearing it down, the size of the pistons were nearly 6 inches in diameter. That thing had an amazing tone to it. It was cool with it's exposed pushrods in the side of the block. Those old motors were really something. I wish we still had them.
