When I went to install my TSS gears I found the OEM gears have dimples on both and were installed face down in the housing. The TSS Gears do not have dimples, does it matter which way the TSS gears are installed? I just installed the TSS gears with the numbers facing up, is that okay?

Broke dafuk down
I would rotate the inner gear clockwise one cog, then the whole assembly lined up to the 12 o'clock position. This would satisfy my ocd...

My OCD made me call TSS today and they confirmed the numbers should face up inside the housing but it doesn't matter how the gears interlock as long as they turn freely.

The picture in the middle in the paper is upside down. Otherwise it looks good.
(glad you confirmed, but yes, does not matter).

Hello I know this is an old thread hope someone see's this, I'm building my 3v for high hp and going with the TSS gears with the gt500 housing, question the gt500 housing I'm seeing come from the 13-14 gt500, is that the year to go with, example - https://www.teamjdm.com/2013-2014-s...oil-pump-fits-4-6l-5-4l-5-8l-modular-engines/
i cant remember exactly but i think so because the backing plate was stiffer, should be some more threads in here about this, hopefully someone else will chime in

You are correct. The backing plate is steel on those pumps. There is a thread here but I can't get the search function to find it.

I seem to think it was One Eyed Willy that has a build thread with pictures and TSS gears. BruceH has detailed pics of the 2013-2014 oil pump and the billet steel backing plate. BruceH also swapped the pressure spring from a stock 3v pump to the GT500 pump.

I did the spring swap and used Boundary gears in my 2013 GT500 pump. The Billet backing plate likely makes a significant difference in stock gear life as the pump won't flex as much.
I chose the boundary gears despite some of the internet talk. One of the 3v failures posted on this site looked a lot like a debris-related failure to me. So far, so good, even with a few missed shifts and tagged rev limiters.

What kind of hp were y’all making while using boundary gears? Same luck for me I couldn’t get the search to work for me. I saw the thread one day and then I couldn’t find it anymore.

I have not dyno'd it so can't tell you for sure. It does trap between 104+ mph in the 1/8th mile at 4200 ft.
When it made 488rwhp, it trapped 91-92 mph at the same track so if I were to guess, it would be north of 600

Yes the 13/14 has a stronger billet backing plate so way less flex. I have a 07-12 gt500 one with tss gears as the 13/14 wasnt out when I built the motor.

I'm still running the same 2013/14 GT500 housing and back plate w/TSS gears, no issues with that even with 3 engines blown up lol (for other reasons). No recent dyno # but prob around 1,000 hp +/-
