I’m not trying to be a jerk. Sorry to hear you got some knockoffs. I saw some on the groups had success with RockAuto. Personally, I bought some Cardone from Amazon, and some from Napa, and both were official remans.
Additionally, I had read that Cardone remanufactures in Mexico, and if you check their site, it does confirm a facility there.

You made your argument, and they look nice, but unless you're going to post a pic of the back of the caliper showing fomoco and brembo cast into the caliper, Stop trying to discredit these dudes. It's ok... you have knock offs. It's been established that they work fine. How many GT500 owners do you think have turned in their brembos for remaned calipers? LoL

Interesting observation. Worst case, I have a new cast from Cardone. Saying they are cheap Chinese knockoffs is unwarranted as their isn’t much to a caliper and it looked legitimate...aside from the part you pointed out.
Considering the number of recked cars, service repairs and core replacements, I would assume a fair number, but your implication seems valid that there would be quite a few knockoffs. This is honestly the first I’m hearing about it since it was never mentioned in the FB group posts I was part of.
Good info. Thanks.

Either way, can you confirm that the 15" rotors from the 13/14 GT500 will work with these calipers? Any modifications required?

if It’s not genuine, and was repopped in China, it is by definition a Chinese knockoff. Lol

Calipers can be calipers. They are not all equal.

4v6pads (1).jpg Don't bother with the four piston Brembos, knockoff or otherwise. Get the six piston ones from an S550 PP. Upper is four piston GT500/Boss/TP pad. Lower pad is for the six piston S550 PP.

Wrong. They are not Chinese cast knockoffs. They are remanufactured OEM calipers. Remanned in China? Perhaps, but who cares, considering the majority of parts on your car are manufactured in China?

Most of them used to be true Brembo castings, rebuilt. But now many are the knockoffs

Yeah. I have 18" Knockoff bullets. No way S550's fit. Even the 4 piston S550's are huge compared to S197 brembos. (S550's top, fake S197's bottom)

I've been running the cardone fembos for a few years now they seem to be holding up good. Just check them out before you put them on. The first one I unboxed was missing 2 pistons. They are hard to beat for the price with calipers, rotors, pads and boss 302 hoses I was under 500 bucks

If you want to race with these, keep in mind that Ford used a different master cylinder and power booster for the 6 pot calipers in 2015+ cars.
There was mention of this in the Vorshlag thread in the corner carvers section after they had poor performance their first time out with the 4 pot master and brake booster.

The 2013 GT500 uses the same master but a different brake booster but that caliper is slightly different than the S550's.

Just something to be aware of before people go mixing and matching brake parts.

I have these "knock off" brembos and they work fine. I painted one set and after seeing paint chipping in places I'm going to powdercoat them myself. Mine were re-manufactured "cardone". I have two pairs they can be had for around $70/each.

The gt500 brake booster gives you less power braking for the larger brakes for better brake manipulation. I don't know about the master cylinder. Either way they will work great with your current brake booster and master cylinder.

I just got off the phone with Cardone. They explained they do use both, as the intent is remanufactured Brembo’s, but when they run out, they use new clones that are cast in China. He was actually willing to replace my existing clones with Brembo remans if I wanted to send them in, but since I’ve painted and bled them, I asked how I could ensure I get real Brembo remans in the future.
He said sources like Amazon and RockAuto are hit and miss, but if you physically check NAPA they can go through the stock on hand.
He stated that with all of the clones they have sold, they have rarely had an issue.
I’m fine running what I have for now, but will probably replace them at some point with confirmed real Brembo calipers, or the S550 model if it will fit under Weld RTS S71 18” wheels.
Thanks for pointing out that many of these (including mine) are clones.

I was talking about the 6 pots, not the 4 pots. The stock s197 master cylinder and GT booster works fine with the 4 pot brembo type calipers, may not be right for the S550 6 pots.

Longer wheel studs and spacers along with the proper wheels and you will be GTG.

Not with my rims. I have a sliver of clearance now. Would need ridiculous spacers (already have 8mm), which I refuse to use. But yes, I'm sure "some" 18" rim might fit.

I would keep them unless you are going road racing. I was thinking of trying road courses with my stang, hence why i got real Brembos. But otherwise, seems not much issues on the street. I would say alloy is most likely better on real Brembos, so they are probably stiffer and do brake better overall.

I fit that S550 PP master on an S197. Not a direct bolt in, but possible. I didn't notice much difference at the time, but it was during an episode of spongy brakes after Brembo swap, so not sure I gave that master a fair shake as brakes were still not bled correctly. Anyway, here is swap thread.

Welcome. Purpose here wasn’t to hurt anybody’s feelings. Pointing them out and putting the information out there for everyone. They seem the work alright. My general experience with Chinese knockoffs is that tolerances are so broad that you never know what you’re getting. For instance, I can buy 20 gx120 Honda knockoff engines, but only 1 of them will have a crank that doesn’t rattle the engine apart or destroy the engine prematurely.
