Whats everyones comfort level for a mustang? I'm talking about that number that feels Just Right! Is this for daily driving? Road racing, auto x, drifting? We all know drag is all about as much as I can get, and more. Whats you guys tboughts?

The question is really how much HP can you actually use in the type of driving you do? My car is purely street driven on speed restricted roads so I can only use a small fraction of what I actually have under my right foot anyway. Most of the cars I'm sharing the road with have a power/weight ratio less than half of mine.
I think the amount of power the car has is just about right. To me it strikes a good balance between being fast enough to be fun and not having too much power to overwhelm the chassis.

There's no way on earth that you'd need anywhere near 750hp in a daily driver unless you drive at 200+mph and that, of course, wouldn't be considered racing. ;)

Yeah, my slightly-tuned '11 5.0 has like 450 at the crank. In some ways, it is extremely frustrating driving on the street, because it's actually quite rare that I can safely use all 450 of those horses.

For street driving, the perfect amount of horsepower is 300. That's enough to actually use and still be fun. So think Ecoboost Mustang.

Don’t need it for sure, but I sure do enjoy it.

My srt Charger is an awesome daily. 760 hp. Great tune, auto with minimal trade offs. Built trans that’s shifts so hard that the tires will chirp when it downshifts. Other than that’s it comfortable and awesome.

Turbo mustang is making 750ish, I will daily it at times when I need to but it not near as liveable.

I drive in the interstate a lot, and both give me the oppt to do some 2-3 and 3-4 pulls which is nice after a frustrating day at work [emoji3]

That's exactly how I feel and I have ~100hp less. I could easily upgrade mine to over 500hp with a supercharger kit but the extra 200hp would only be for bragging rights and isn't worth the cost. Here in Cyprus, you're in a very exclusive club if your car has 300+ crank HP.

In my experience, this heavily depends on what you've done to the rest of the car. 300HP was enough to have fun with on the stock suspension and 235 wide all seasons. After doing a bunch of suspension and brake mods and going to a performance oriented 275 tire, 300 HP was pretty boring.

RIP - You will be missed
I have a slightly different take . . .

For street driving, torque is far more important (and usable) than HP. But for a number, 325 ft*lbs @ 4250 rpm computes to about 263 HP (I'm using the 2010 production number that also apply to the FRPP tune for earlier S197s). Maybe round that up to 300 to cover occasionally running the revs out to 5000. And honestly, while it would have been nice if Ford had built another 75 HP into the 4.6, 300-ish is plenty for the street.

So far, I'm mostly good with 325-ish HP even when I'm out on a road course. I know I could handle quite a bit more than that (and have driven cars on the track that had considerably more), but I don't have to have more in order to enjoy the day.

Maybe when your focus is on the corners rather than the straights, power takes a back seat and it becomes more about getting the most out of how much power you do have. IOW, more about you and your driving and less about the car and its engine.

I don’t even know if I could drive a 300hp car anymore.

I think it depends on your set up and driving style.
I would argue that for what I enjoy, I use every bit of my 750hp. No spinning, it’s not useless. Car is set up well and it’s my normal.

The only n/a car I own is a c6z. It’s got a forged 440, set up more for road racing. And I love the car, it handles amazing which makes it a lot of fun to drive and gets better gas mileage than my other two by a wide margin ( on interstate ) but at 682rwhp it just feel meh when I het on it compared to my turbo mustang and supercharged srt8.
