So I recently bought a 2007 4.0 with an X-charger and I'm a bit lost with it all, Anyone know how to tell which kit I got? Pretty much I want to know everything there is to know about the X-charger...and I can't seem to find very much online. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

If you don't have an intercooler then it isn't the Xtreme. The Xtreme has an extra coolant bottle next to the radiator degas bottle.

Without a picture can't tell what pulley you have on it. Xtreme can run a much smaller pulley and higher boost because of the cooling. I loved my 2006 convertible with Xcharger Xtreme. Most fun car I've ever owned. Never should have sold it.

There are 2 Facebook pages for guys running the 4.0 and that is where you will likely find the most information.

Sigh...I miss the collective. It was the best source of 4.0 info anywhere. I don't do facebook, so I'm SOL for contact with the 'ol crowd.

Richy, If you can post a couple of pics, Jim or myself should be able to tell you what you have.

Jim, good to see you're still around. I still have my '07, and its got a whopping 40,000 miles on it. What are you driving now?

Hi Roddy. Driving a 2017 EcoBoost convertible now. Wishing that I had the 2006 Xcharger Xtreme back though. Most fun Mustang that I ever owned.

The 2013 went through 3 engines before I gave up trying to tune the turbo set up. My wife said that the car was cursed and we should get rid of it

Not an extreme, but looks recent enough to have the newer discharge manifold and intake tube. I can't tell 100% from the picture if it is a 3" or 2.8" pulley.
If it is a 2.8, it is likely a HiPo plus kit. Did you get a plug-in tuner with the car? If so, it should list the tune that is on the car (and any others in storage). That can help narrow down what you have there.

I think that is the 2.8 pulley just as a comparison to the idler pulleys.

Did the car spend any time in California? If so, then it would be a 3" pulley because California didn't CARB certify the smaller pulley

I did get an SCT tuner with it...but I updated it...not knowing that you aren't supposed to do that, and now it wont communicate so I'm not sure which and what tunes are on it. I don't think I comes from California

Looks like a later edition of the X-Charger with the black MP90, and it looks like you have a 2.8” pulley.
Here is what the 3.0” pulley looks like.E0AB3A42-92E9-4F63-A6CD-B8E05D0731B0.jpeg

I see that you are in NC -- where are you located? I am in Winston Salem.

Also the OP has the original belt plate. I see you have the updated one with better belt wrap.

Actually looks like maybe the OP does have upgraded idler plate, but just doesn't have the extra pulley on it? Looks like the hole is there where it would go.

It does look like the newer version of the kit. It takes some legwork to get it done, but it could be upgraded to the extreme intercooled version. Did it to mine last summer, Bell Intercoolers can update the manifold for roughly ~$350. 2.6 pulleys are available from Pulley Boys, but you need to take it to a machine shop to shave the backside down and then make a steel spacer for it to last. Of course would also need a heat exchanger and pump. Got my tunes from Doug Studdard, I reached out to him on facebook.

I’m in Mooresville, just north of Charlotte. I had to pass CA smog one last time so that’s why I had the CARB legal 3.0 pulley kit. I’m thinking that was the weakest X-Charger kit ever made with losing PSI boost to the intercooler. I moved to NC a year later and upgraded to the 2.6 pulley.

Yeah I really miss the collective too. When I did mine (along with a LOT of supporting mods), I relied heavily on the collective for help and info.

And I don't do FB either.
