Choosing between the 2014 gt or 2015 gt is hard

I think the 550's are beautiful cars, and I also think they are faithful to the overall mustang design. I look at the S197 as being close to the '69-70' fastback design, while the 550 follows the enlarged '71-'73 design, but also the early fastbacks. If you look at the difference between a 66 coupe and a fastback, they really invoke, at least for me, a very different vibe. Same with the last two major designs we have now. I noticed something at the few mustang car shows I made a few years ago. There were quite a few gorgeous 550's, tastefully modded and just a few S197's that were tastefully modded. At every show that had a well planned and executed S197, the S197 took best of show and peoples choice every time. A lot of folks commented that the 550's "were just too pretty". I've got the same comments from onlookers when I've parked next to a new mustang. They tell me they like mine better. (2007) I would still love to have a new one myself, but I'm not selling my Shelby, ever. I love how it feels. I love how it sounds. I love that it is very much a handful. With my "no Lift" tendency it is a lot of fun. It's gone grazing more than once.

I just hate how they sound inside the car.

As for spending money on an older car you like better vs having to spend less on a car you like a little less. I have figured out, get the car you definitely like and will be keeping forever, and just spend what you want, to get what you want. There comes a point where counting how much you have in it is pointless.. ask me how I know. I started off being Mr. Budget and eventually realized I am always going to get what I want vs settling (until I can't, but I still have the car I want whenever that is.). Just look at the guys that still have their old school muscle cars, they have them because they love them, not because they have a level of performance they think they want and you can guarantee it ain't a budget build, at least not exactly.

I debated on trading the 06 for a newer one, but ended up making this one what I want.
Already had the minor bolt ons and suspension done. So went mostly all out. SC, T56 trans, rear end rebuild, new gears, 1 piece alum drive shaft, twin disc clutch, long tube headers, Moser axles, Wilwood brakes.
Its like a totally new beast! Love it more all over again, never getting rid of it!

I like that line of thinking, I definitely intend on keeping it as long as possible. A few thousand more over years makes almost no difference.

It took me decades to realize I shouldn't chase the new shinny thing and I should instead focus on the car that gives me joy. I bought '93 GT hatchback. It's raw. It's noisy. It's visceral. It makes me smile.

When I had my '05 GT it was an awesome car. Everything about it was nice. Way nicer than any Foxbody or SN95 or New Edge I've had. But I never made a connection with it. I haven't driven a S550 yet. I'm sure it's very nice, but I'm not in a hurry to drive one.

I drove a 2015 and the conclusion I came to was that it was going to be expensive for me to be as satisfied as I am with my 2009 GT-simple as that. It was going to need just as many upgrades as the 2009 to give me what I wanted and the parts-in some cases- are ridiculously priced.

Yup, I don't want to give up my glass roof either. Even the guys at the track think it's cool that they can see into the car from the tower

I ordered a 14 @ the point I knew what the 15's looked like, & what they didn't have..
Agreed, the glass roof is awesome! When I was looking for a Mustang, I had already decided it had to be an 09 with a glass roof (and a GT, of course).

I have a different idea/dream. You kinda love it or hate it. I've had my 06 for 12 years. I'll keep it until I kill it.

I've always liked sleeper cars. Only thing on my mind it to find a no stripe race red 11/12 gt500. Make it a sleeper by doing a bumper/hood swap and remove the exterior cobra badging. I could box that stuff up and put it back on if I change my mind or sell it.

The premium 11/12 V6 front nose always looked best to me anyway.

I bought my 14GT TrkPak with 2000 miles and got a great deal. It was pretty much stock except a can'd tune and CAI. I liked the car, then I started working on it, lowered it, put real 14 GT500 wheels/tires on it, Boss 302 front spoiler, GT500 rear spoiler, completely redid the rear suspension, GT500 rear valance and mufflers, trans mounts/shifter, one piece aluminum drive line...on and on. I drove it from Salem, Oregon to Redding, California in 5 hours, taking posted 55mph turns way into the triple digits, the car was more of a race car than a street car...I basically ruined a good street car, but boy was it fun to drive. I had started looking at the S550's when they first came out and liked them, although they felt more planted than my 14, it could have eaten then all day, in a straight line or curves, but it was becoming less fun to drive. Don't get me wrong, it was a beautiful car and when I put the Katzkin red leather in it with the Recaros, it was gorgeous. I sold the car and got an ATS-V, then after blowing up two motors, I got a pickup with the idea of getting back into drag racing. Then one day I went to look at a beautiful 13 Boss 302, Race Red just like my 14 TrkPak, and it only had 16k miles, it was nice, and drove really great. The Ford dealer had this brand new 2019 GT/PP1/A10 on the lot and the my friend shamed me into taking a ride...that was it, love at first sight. I've had it for a little over a year and put 5500 miles on it, 1300 miles was bring it down to Arizona from Oregon. The car is bone stock, except for jacking rails and PP2 front spoiler. It did 11.93 in the 1/4 at 117mph. Sure it took me half a day and 10 passes to get there, but wow! It's 2 seconds slower than the old race car, but easy on gas, has AC, and rides decent on long trips. Yes, the car is white and I did put red leather Katzkin in it to make it pop a little more than the mundane black interior. Anyway, the 19 has 460hp, which I will get the newest FPP upgrade to make it the same as the Bullitt Mustang at around 480hp, then I'll stock...maybe.
The looks of the 14 are the best, in my opinion, and you can always upgrade anything you want, and make it whatever you want, but doing the same mod's to the S550 will net you a better all around car in every respect...except looks!

Looks like my 17 gt. One thing I forgot to mention is that the seats in the s550 are way better than any s197 seats except for the recaros in the boss.

Yea, that's why the leather s550 seats are in my car. Totally transforms it.

I have cloth seats unlike my last 2 mustangs but I’m glad they are cloth. Leather is no fun in Florida and the upkeep can be a pain in the ass if you slack for a while. I don’t know the quality of the leather ford uses past 07 but if it hasn’t changed its not that great, to me it’s too plasticy.

I prefer leather because it is virtually maintenance free. All that crap you slather all over it ends up doing more harm than good most of the time.

Except the particular product YOU use, of course.

I've had several cars with leather seats. I've done preciously nothing to any of them ever other than an occasional wipe down with a damp cloth. Never a problem. Conversely I've had several cars with cloth seats. I've done exactly nothing to them other than an occasional vacuuming. Never a problem. Seats are pretty maintenance free in general in my experience.

Anti, what year is your car ? Will S550 seats fit into S197 cars ?

Mine is a 2007. I had to cut the 90° front tabs off of my stock seat rails and weld them to the front of the new seat and paint. Then I transplanted the wiring harness from my seats to the new ones and spliced the motors in. I then transfered the bladder sensor to the passenger seat. If you had side air bags on your car there is a tad more work required. I could also wire in the heated and cooled portion, but I haven't. I may one day. I will need switch and custom wiring.

Here is what you could do with a 2014. Always love hearing cars on a dyno.
