My ‘05 spent some of it’s life in Canada so it has DRL’s. I would like to disable them. Searched here and didnt find anything. Googled and some was not clear, just seeing if anyone has successfully disabled them without much hassle.

I plan to get different housing/lights all together but that wont be for quite some time still. Any help is appreciated.

I believe you can get that resolved through a dealer with the scan tool they have. I think I read that once. Would be worth a call to a dealer to find out. Or call Ford direct. Worse they can say is no.

Afaik, it's done in the tune. DRL on /off. Buddy in wash state, just south of me sez all new cars for last 15 years come with DRL enabled. DRL reduces accidents by 25-40%.

I don't use the DRL during the daytime, I rotate the switch one position to the left, and run the normal night time lights...which of course also turns on the red + yellow markers. With a black car, I want it as visible as possible.

Not sure if this will work for the S197 cars.

Or....from another forum.....

"You can turn them off with Forscan. Check this link:
http://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.p...e+codes#p13010

Download Forscan 2.3.7, get the free two month extended licence for it. Get a good blue tooth obd11 reader. Put Forscan on a laptop and read all about Forscan and programming. You will be able to go to the Instrument cluster module (ICM).
The line reads 720-01-01 Xxxx xxxx xxxx. Whatever number is in the Capital X spot, change that to a zero. Leave all the other values in the small x spots the same as they are. Hit write, it will tell you to cycle keys off and on (not start) and viola, your DRLs will go off. Did that here in Canada and wired a 4 wire relay to make my Fog lamps as DRL to stay legal. What I wanted to do for a long time. Works slick as a whistle."

Well hell, I went to a dealer a while back and they vacillated on it. "We could, maybe, possibly, but we don't know, and we'll charge you $150 just to hook up our tool..." I left without having it done. I'll have to check out this Forscan thing. Thanks, TJM.
