Does anyone know of a way to distinguish between the different ratios/production years for the TR6060's? I might pick the one up locally if I can figure out if its an early model.
There is alomst always an aluminum tag with a tremec part number. Look for that and look up the part number.

And you don't need to change the wiring harness, other than to open it up and re-route is as either the reverse lights or the speedometer sensor is on the opposite side (I can't remember which one).

I did read that there was a tag from the factory on one of the bell housing bolts, but the transmission is out of the car and has been for a while, so I think that tag is long gone. Is the tag you are referring to located somewhere else?

Here are the pictures the seller sent me. They aren't very great, but they have a few numbers, but nothing like what you're referring too.

IIRC, the TUET number is cast in somewhere and is enough to get the ratios but not the exact build date. But I'm not 100% sure anymore. Its been several years since I did mine.

Realistically, any of them will work well. But a 2.66 1st gear may need a ring and pinion change to get what you want for overall gearing.

Ok, I'll have the guy look for that.

I thought about changing the rear ratio, but if I do, that's going to be a ways out. I don't have the money to do both at the moment. That's the main reason I'm looking mostly at the earlier models.

Iirc the tag is on one of the tail shaft housing bolts, ie it does not need to be removed to take the transmission out. Just ask the seller to send you a picture of the tag

Guy finally got back to me with a picture of a tag on the transmission. I have googled and looked at the above linked articles, but I can't make sense out of the tag. Anyone know what this means? Looks like it was handmade...

Ok, guess I failed at Google for today.... Looks like its the first version of the TR6060 in the GT500. So it would indeed have the 07-10 ratios. Thanks.

I put a 6060 out of a 13gt500 in my 2005 last year, the gear ratios were a big part of it but also the better shifting and strength. I was afraid I would break the 3650 with 500 wheel.
The 13/14 has a different output flange (cup actually) and the driveshaft options are more limited. I ended up ordering a factory carbon shaft from the gt500. The bolts are different so get those as well but otherwise bolts straight up.
I went with a spec stage 2 clutch and flywheel (with a 26 spline clutch disc) the 13/14 uses a shorter slave as it has a factory double disk, if using a single disk you need the earlier style slave.
I went with a mgw gen2 and Luther then being stiff which I found with my 3650 version as well it shifts awesome and have never had lockout issues.

The short ratio 13/14 is awesome and the longer first and 6th gear work well with 4.10s

I think those are the best ratios.
Now you need this clutch

plus
stock thowout bearing
stock or aftermarket driveshaft
shifter and crossmember and you're done
Buy Tremec's new trans fluid and change it before you install the trans. Its way easier than afterwards.

I found my T56 magnum shifts better with Mobile 1 synthetic ATF than it did when I ran Tremec’s MTL fluid.

Mine is a 2008 6060 also. On the drivers side of the transmission case is an aluminum plate stamped “use dextron II “

I'm running the mobil 1 synthetic ATF. I have been tempted to try the 3 quarts redline D4 ATF, 1 Quart Redline MTL cocktail that the camaro and charger guys talk about on some forums.

Did you get a tr6060 yet, Mr Awesome? I know a guy on TMO that wants to get rid of his 2.66 gear t56xl and clutch with 500 racing miles.
