Rev Limiter Question

I’ve got a 2014 GT, installing the 18 manifold and got the tune from Lund. The limiter is set at 7700 which I’ve learned they don’t want you hitting the limiter and also don’t believe it’s safe to live up in the 7000+ rpm range when doing HPDE. My question is what would hitting the limiter from time to time cause, assuming it’s set at 7000. Not bouncing off it 30 seconds at a time but is there an issue if you hit the limiter frequently for less than a second here and there? My thought is to try and set a soft limiter closer to the stock 7000 limit, maybe at 7300.

I’d set it at 7500 tops and only if you have upgraded oil pump gears. That’s the biggest thing when swapping to the 18+ manifold, you’ll need them. Stock are powdered metal, they’ll grenade at that rpm eventually.

I’m all stock but for headers. I do not plan on revving it out that far at all. I guess I’m more curious why hitting the limiter Is worse for the car?

Shift light set below the rev limiter has worked great for me. No issues hitting limiter since.
