I'm looking to buy a 2 owner 2014 GT Premium that was last owned by someone in or near Webster Mass or Dudley Mass. The car has some unique features just from the pics. It started as a GT Premium and later had a Roush phase 2 package added that was updated with a boost-a-pump, 79mm pulley, likely upgraded FI's, with a VMP 93 tune. Car does not have the programmer device with it.

AeBVSYy.jpg

The distinguishing items are the smoothed rear trunk lid panel, aftermarket spoiler and the 19" AM wheels with Michelin Pilot 4's on them. VIN 1ZVBP8CF3E5230707. Also it has 15+ front brake rotors and calipers on it. They clearly aren't brembo or other brand brake calipers and rotors. The car has clearly been lowered as well.

Just wishing to know the hidden details on the car if someone can shed some light...

E.G. - OPG upgrade? What suspension upgrades? And what size Fuel injectors are on the car? Factory gears? Etc.

I am 3.5 hours from the car and plan to drive up Monday to see it. Just trying to get a better idea of the mods before making a trip. Thanks.

long shot, a bit of leg work, if you have the car fax, you usually can see the dealership that worked on the car, if you can find that dealer in the last 6-12 months, maybe you can get the owners name or ask them to reach out to the owner on your behalf... you'd of course need a cooperative service department.

will try that route. Just figured that a service department would not be willing or allowed to hand out information.

Hope you get in contact w/ PO...I always let dealer/sales know I can be contacted, if new owner(s) wish. Nice courtesy to relay any vehicle issues (good/bad). One time we were called & asked if we owned pets & had in car b/c one of their children was highly allergic...we're glad to relay our ownership facts.

^^ this Ask the dealership to contact the previous owner, maybe they did the upgrades or maybe they know the original owner and can get in contact. Worth a try.

Just got off the phone with service advisor who said he would reach out to the person and provie them my phone should they be good enough to call back. As modified as the car appears to be I would have thought the owner would have had an account here. He/she has put 15+ brake calipers and rotors on the car from the photos I have seen. They look just like the calipers on my 17GT and have no Brembo logos. So I am assuming they are 15+ calipers rather than the standard 11-14 brake calipers that came on premium GT's with the automatic.

My only vices visually with the car is that it's black and has the rear GT emblem deleted off of it. I remember my first two black cars before the days of clear coat. THey were a pain to keep clean and wax.

Nothing beats a well polished UA black on a Mustang.

You really need a build sheet on that car. A tuner would be great, but if the PO stuck to a Roush Tune, the tuner would be irrelevant with regards to altering the programming. Roush sends out a Tune Voucher with their kits. You have to mail them your ECM, they load the tune and send it back. There’s a good possibility that the OP never used a tuning device on this car.

Also, if the Phase 2 Kit was owner installed, there’s a high probability that the OPG/CS are stock.

You REALLY need the build-sheet...

Its clearly not running a Roush tune. It has a 79mm pulley vice the stock 85mm that came with that package and an added VMP boost-a-pump. Sadly the seller did not provide that flash tuner with the car, so I am assuming its a VMP tune. I spoke with VMP and while they cannot divulge customer 411 the rep said that that a common setup with those mods that are on it would more than likely also be running a 56lb injector upgrade as well. Should not be too difficult to determine once on site looking at the car. I would really like to know if the car was actually tuned by VMP and not some local tuner or God forbid some "Brand B" canned tuner that hangs their hat on a dyno number and has no actual drive ability experience like VMP, PBD, or Lund (as examples of more reputable remote tuners).

I am using a local source that may be able to get me the previous owners name through his sources and database access. I have reached out to the dealer in Mass that last worked on the car so hoping they actually do what they said they would and that the previous owner will contact me.

According to the carfax he/she owned it for 5 years where as the first owner had the car less than 1 year. It appears in the pics to have been maintained well. As mentioned owner number 2 added S550 GT front brakes and calipers to the car, it has a passenger side catch can on it so oil migration into the IC will be minimal if any. I just hate to pick up the car, order things like OPG upgrade only to find out when they pull the timing cover that it already has been done and I now owe 8 hours labor just to find out. Things like that are my bigger focus. I've never had an issue with running the stock OPG's but I also limit tuners to setting shift points to 7500 max. In this case however since the car is likely pushing more than I have done on a 11-14GT (this would be my third in that series) I would do it regardless for some peace of mind though there are no promises when you mod a car regardless. I just want an S197 again that will make enough HP with the stock converter to run 10.60's. 10.82 is my previous PB on a white 14 I had. Got talked out of that car though I got a fair price for it.

Ah, I missed that part earlier... My Roush kit came with the 79mm pulley, and a Roush Fuel Pump Voltage regulator. So I wrongly assumed yours would too. I did upgrade the light duty Heat Exchanger to the VMP during install.

Let us know how it all turns out.

^^ Did their triple pass on my 14 setup. I will do the non fan version this time now that it is available. I experienced that the fans really didn't do much (even sitting in place) and believe based on the theory and other discussions that a higher flow pump would be money better spent than on the fans. Pretty certain since this car is an auto it would have had the 625 phase two 11-14 package which still runs the 85mm. The 675 phase 3 isn't (or wasn't) available for the auto through Roush...unless of course the previous owner went with a tuner package through VMP...but why when their PD setups flow much better than a Roush anyway, so it really wouldn't make sense unless one was just hung up on the Roush placard...which I am not.

I went with the fanless option for the same reasons too. Mine was ordered and installed by a custom builder/tuner. It was less expensive than the VMP kits. VMP actually recommended the tuner for the project. They also told me they have bolt-on parts (highflow elbow for one) that brings the newest gen Roush up to date with their latest updated versions. The difference is that the Roush compressor comes apart for easy modification, where-as the VMP compressor has some of the parts (think elbow again) permanently cast into the housing.

Anyway, it was VMP / the Tuner who convinced me to go with the Roush and invest the extra money towards other mods (OPG/CS, cooling system upgrades, Heat Exchanger upgrades, exhaust upgrades).

Anyway, I took a shot in the dark about your setup. A swing and A miss.

Clearly you are way more informed than I about this subject. Good luck.

Can VMP provide you with any more info about the tune (and upgrades requiring a tune modification) by searching their customer base using the VIN? Not sure if they use the VIN or just the engine computer code, but even then they should be able to narrow it down by cross referencing with the info you have.

Just what I was going to suggest. They should be able to see what, if any, work was done by them on the car without giving any customer information.

I tried talking to Steve at VMP but he was unwilling to give me any 411. I will try again by contacting Justin Starkey or Joe (the tuner if he is still there) this week.

Got to get on the road and go look at this car. Thanks for the help.

I went Roush and VMP tune as I live in lib land with emission inspections. They don't currently do visual, but who's to say they won't start and VMP has no CARB #. I went Phs 3, but bought closed Roush AC assy from E-bay to have just in case. So that is one reason someone might do that combo.

Also, I am running inj's that came with Phs 3. I don't have any other power mods (not even catback), but VMP did not indicate to me I was running out of fuel. So I'm not sure you can automatically assume upgraded inj's either.

Went to see the car today. The black paint has taken a toll in spite of only having 19K on it. Had kooks shorties with factory cats and QTP cutouts (cutouts not functioning. blown fuse we found which indicates a bad cut out motor most likely). GT500 mufflers. Sounded nice, drove very nice though the tune had it shifting at 6800 RPM WOT. Made me wish my S550 shifted and responded as nicely. Looked like it had FIC FI's on it as well. Hard to tell without pulling the rail but they were not the 47# units that came with it. Had what appeared to be a header leak on the passenger side as well. Typical LCA's, and adjustable pan hard along with some form of lowering spring. Guessing Roush since they were Black in color. Looked like stock shocks and struts.

Found evidence of paint work on the passenger side rear quarter. Tape line inside the passenger side door and orange peel in the paint when you got down lower to inspect it. Would make a good first timer car that spends more time at the track. Throw a wrap on it, retune it to shift at 7500, put a stall converter in it (factory stall btw) and let er eat.

Thanks for the input. I will keep looking. Driving it made me so aware that I FU##ED up when I sold my 14...and went S550. I miss simple, more like a muscle car, and SRA compared to 15+ GT's.
