I hear ya, and I hope so too. I have no experience with them at all. Do you have a local Mustang Speed Shop who’d be friendly enough to take a look and offer some opinion on this?

I’d have a local expert look at this and give you a written statement (preferably a KB authorized dealer / installer). You need to prepare for battle just in case they argue with you. Photograph EVERYTHING in great detail and have a professional assessment done before you ship it off. Otherwise you will be totally at their mercy, and can only hope for their goodwill.

I spoke with Mike on multiple different occasions about the blower and some other things. I ended up getting a kit that had some holes that weren't tapped, missing parts in the instructions, ya know small stuff. Nothing that was a big concern. Mike has been a great communicator and even sent me the smaller 3.5 pulley and pulley wrench at no cost. This goes without saying, when I send the blower in, I'm sending the pulley along with it. I did torque everything to spec like the instructions said as well...no foreign object injestion whatsoever. I gave maybe 8 or 10 miles on it. First log was just a start up log then driving very light then a small pull in 3rd gear up to 4500. Then got the new 3.5 pulley did the same logs again and did a pull to 5000. Then did a pull today, didnt even get to 4000 rpm and it seized..oil level was checked very meticulously on both the engine and blower. Same for coolant. Never ran lean never ran hot, etc.

It sure does look like something got sucked up into the rotors.

Or the "seizing" caused stuff to break and get run through there.

But, those blades have obviously seen some stuff.

Drywall screw?! Sorry, too soon, but some of the old timers here will get the reference.
That sucks man, I hope they make it right

I honestly have no idea. I dont see a way of something getting in there..I think I'm just very fortunate that the heat exchanger is there otherwise metal would have gotten into the block. I blew out the pieces and shop vacced it all out and as far as I can tell I dont see anything else in there. Should I do anything else besides what I already done? I cant get or see any other metal on the exchanger

Dude, that sucks. I feel for you.

There may have been shavings or metal dust that made it through your heat exchanger. In fact I would almost guarantee that some shit made it past. But with that said, small shavings and shit have the tendency to either burn up or pass right through the motor. But for peace of mind I might just scope every cylinder to check for anything.

Do you think I should take the manifold off? Or just scope the cylinders? I drove it home with the belt off (very easy mind you) and it ran fine

I would just take a look see. If anything made it by the heat exchanger it is already gone through the motor. I would just scope it to see if there is any damage but like I said, anything that made it that far has had to have been burnt up or sent out the exhaust.

In gonna scope everything. I did check the hole where the bypass valve is. The hole goes straight to the valves and everything was clean from what I could see but I haven't scoped yet

Since you already have the blower off, just to be on the safe side, I would pull the intake manifold. If for no other reason, than to remove and inspect the heat exchanger.

If your kit was missing parts, and had unfinished machine work from the factory, it is 100% K.B’s responsibility to make it right.

I haven't scoped it yet but I can tell you I looked right down into the valves below where the bypass valve is on the manifold and its clean

OP, your photo's look like FOD. I would be amazed if Kenne Bell warrantied it. Definitely look for material post blower. You would be amazed at what can make it through a blower setup. Good luck OP.

I very against the whole foreign object deal as a possibility because I've done 4 datalogs, 4 pulls and regular driving logs before that pull that seized it..if something was in there it would have done it the first pull or even the second.. I found nothing missing from my throttle body also. Checked down underneath the manifold and saw no signs of damage and on top of that, the bypass valve had no damage either while h is the most likely source of where material would get into the engine. Regardless I am going to scope it and check.

I scoped every cylinder and they all look the same
Maybe some very small shiny particles but the camera is black and white. Could be reflection from carbon but I saw absolutely no damage

For future reference, do not use compressed air to blow away the debris. Do not use a shop vac. Try to gather all the metal pieces and put them on a paper towel or white rag. Use a magnet to see what is steel vs what is aluminum. Do this to help figure out what went wrong.

Take the manifold off. The car is going to be down for a while and its the smart thing to do. Look for more debris in the manifold and also for anything caught in the heat exchanger.

I know you don't think so, but those marks on the rotors look exactly like it sucked something in and the rotors chewed it up. Maybe something was loose and it took some time to fully come out. I don't know. But its unlikely that somehow a rotor failed. I don't see any indication of that.

Well I couldnt suck anything out. It was very small trust me I tried that first. By the way it was all aluminum. Everything was non ferrous. And the small pieces I did blow out were smaller than a finger nail clipping odd comparison but all I could think of haha. And I only saw like 3 small pieces and with it being aluminum it didnt hurt anything

Man. Let me tell you what. I am one LUCKY SOB. I bore scoped the cylinders saw no damage. Maybe a few specks of aluminum but no damage. Took the manifold off and took the back cover off, nothing made it through the intercooler. Scoped the valves no damage. Just small specks of aluminum. Kennebell got my blower Monday and sent me pictures of the damage. I'll attach some pictures below. Somehow a small aluminum screw got into the blower. They said they were going to figure something out for me. Mike said he doesn't believe in making money off of misery which made me happy. So I figured they were going to take some old parts and rebuild me another one. Well Carlos called me the next day and said Mike and Jodi were on board for this deal and I asked what it was. They said they have a brand new blower thats never been mounted but it had a few tiny scuffs on it and that they will send it to me at no charge just pay shipping..boy..am I glad..and lucky....I ordered my kit April 5th and got it I think early July. Apparently I was one, if not the nicest person they spoke with regarding my order. Everyone else was an asshole apparently. Guess it works out to be patient and understanding.

Edit: pictures attached
