What should a stock 4.6, 5 speed 3:55 rear end get for gas mileage? I drive it very conservatively and it never has gotten better than 17mpg. Thanks

MPG is not tech here, but I have 3.73 gears in a manual and get 18-20 city/mixes hard driving and ~23-24 highway if I keep it at 75 mph or less.

When I had my 2005 GT (100% stock) I got 26 mpg on a trip (hand calculated, not the display result). Around home it was around 18-20.

I get ~16.5mpg in city driving and ~27mpg on the highway at a steady 70mph. My mods have improved gas mileage by ~10% over stock.

When my 05 was stock, we got 18-20 city and 25-27 highway.
Now with a supercharger and E85 conversion, it’s 7-10 city and 15-17 highway. That’s not a true measure, because I never go far without a couple of WOT blasts.

I've seen 28 on the dash I generally get around 21 but I live in the country so not a lot of stop and go.

I'm in this similar range with mine. I don't really care about the MPG, I just wish the tank was bigger!

I have an E85 station less than a mile from home, so it’s never really a problem. Plus, it only gets 2500 miles a year. Last time I filled up it was $1.89 a gallon, a full $1 per gallon less than 93 octane. Even with the poor mpg, I come out ahead. But, you’re right. A bigger tank would be nice.

I live really close to one as well, thankfully. So around town its not a problem, but it kinda makes it hard to plan a longer trip, since most stations don't carry e85 around me.

With long tubes, no cats, good tune, and 4.10 gears I got a true calculated 23.6 on the trip from southeast Texas to Portland Oregon. Car was loaded down completely. I do have tall tires, so that negates some of the gear. Around town I'll see around 18. Always several WOT pulls per tank. Got to keep the shifting skills polished. Lol

Thanks for all the replies, the car does have muffler delete axle backs, which I think is restrictive by the hole size before the exhaust tips. Any thoughts on this? Thanks

Yeah, something's wrong. I average around 18 mpg in 50/50 mixed hwy/city with a Vortech and I'm not afraid of the red zone on the tach.

What are your mods? I'm struggling to get 21mpg on the highway w/ shorties & under drive pulleys. What improvement did you see from the JLT CAI?

The JLT didn't alter the gas mileage but the combination of Steeda underdrive pulleys and delete plates did yield a ~1mpg gain. My aero mods yielded the biggest mpg gain with a further small mpg gain from porting the stock throttle body.
