Damn, looks like I am going to have to switch to studs unless someone has another suggestion. I've tried a few places and no one has stock left.

Anyone found any alternatives besides the ARP stud kit?

I was hoping to not have to align hone the block again but if I switch to studs, it pretty much becomes a necessity. Adding the cost of that as well as the stud kit is making F150 coyotes start to look more and more appealing. Problem then is that my turbo kit will need so many changes that I'd be better off selling it and starting from scratch.

This block was align honed wth bolts. Because the whole fastener twists during installation with bolts, the distortion of the block will be different than with a stud that only stretches in one plane of axis.

It may be splitting hairs but for best results it should be align honed with the fastener that you will assemble the motor with. Align honing is not exactly "special machining" either. Every block at least should be checked before use-especially aluminum blocks with tight main bearing clearances. My stock block had 0.0003" of taper from front to back. With a goal of a 0.0015" main bearing clearance, 0.0003" is a bit much.

To each their own, but no way I'd spend the money on studs and then cheap out by not doing one of the basic engine building machine processes.

First of all ARP also sells Bolts so only the torque spec will change. No more torque to yield. And second, the difference in distortion in the block main webs between studs or bolts when torqued to the same value is insignificant. With 6 bolt, cross bolted mains I bet you can’t measure the difference.

Straight from ARP's instructions (You or your machine shop did read them, right?)

I'll take their advice...

Those are for the 'yote. I still have the poor man's 4.6.

Whoops. You're right. Sorry 'bout that.

Have you spoken to a Ford dealer? I am quite certain those are just OEM TTY bolts.
