Hello all! My name is Andrew and I just bought my first s197 Mustang :) It's a rebuilt car but I have plans for something interesting. Through a semi-interesting story, I came into possession of a 2nd generation Lightning motor that I'm going to try to swap into my 07 Mustang v6 car to make a street/course car. Any tips or advice is MUCH appreciated and I can't wait to get to know some of you!

Going to need a new trans, driveshaft, and rear besides the engine. Not up on Lightnings, is that a modular or a windsor engine?

The Gen 2 Lightning had a supercharged 5.4L 2V Modular V8 producing 360hp/440lbft (1999-2000) & 380hp/450lbft (2001-2004).

i like the 5.4 2v, got one in my van.
So it should be pretty much a direct bolt in, with a trans driveshaft and rear.

Holy cow, wasn't expecting this many responses so quickly lol. I appreciate the enthusiasm. Hopefully it's not too rough of a swap. I have a trans, driveshaft and rear end ready to go. The only thing I'm really questioning is what PCM and wiring harness I'll need. I also have to replace battery cables and a lot of interior things because it was a salvaged car that had a lot of things stolen off of it while it was sitting in a guy's yard...

Im pretty sure using a GT pcm is the best choice. Tuning will be required, and vct needs to be disabled.

I have had a couple Lightning’s over the years.
99 and 03.
Heat soak was definitely a problem. I always thought it was the heat exchanger back then.

Besides what has been mentioned, the other thing you are going to run into is engine height due to the Gen 2 Lightning supercharger. Another thought to consider is the weight of that engine combination. You said you had a transmission but didnt mention what trans you plan on using.
