Hey all!

I am replacing the cam phasers/gears on my 05 twin turbo 5.4L 3v. Like an idiot, I took the two-piece lockouts out without taking a picture.

Unlike the single-piece lockouts that simply go into the "best-fitting" location on the 3v cam phasers, the two-piece ones (which net I believe a 10* retard from the position with no command from the PCM), these require manually clocking the phaser partially to install the two pieces, holding the vane in a midway position. These are NOT the same as the limiting lockouts with the springs.

The end result is a phaser with the middle finger on the reluctor wheel roughly 10* off from the mark on the cam phaser, as shown in the attached picture.

I'm hoping SOMEONE other than me has these installed and has pics of where they go. Mine came assembled from RGR (Rich Groh), but I can't get ahold of him to figure out what brand they are. I've googled and googled and can't find them anywhere. For all I know, he machined them himself.

It looks like he cut a standard set of lockouts himself to "degree" the cams.

I run Trick Flow adjustable crank gears on my 3v with BBR lockouts (locked out to degree then removed the lockouts to keep VCT). It may be worthwhile to invest in a set of adjustable gears and just use standard lockouts to degree your cams.

Otherwise, a few guys seem to like the BBR adjustable cam gears.

So it's ok to use only one vane to drive the cam? Looks a little fragile.

And you sir may as well share that parts list right meow! Not many 3v's out there being reliable with that power, and I like the 3v way better than the dumb coyotes.

Lol, I have both, and I have to say, I love my 2019 GT. Then again, I want twins on that as well.

The 5.4L 3v is a built MMR 1000 short block, with RGR stage 3 heads and custom turbo cams. Lethal Performance triple Walbro 255lph return style fuel system with Fore hat (spec'd out for E85). TurboHP twin 61mm turbo kit. Lots of stuff I honestly don't remember anymore, lol.

It should be noted that I can only run 21psi on E85, per Lito's recommendation. He tuned it for around 680rwhp @ 14psi with 91 octane here in Colorado (though it made 802rwhp on E85 @ 14psi), which is what the wastegates are springed at. I get 21psi on a eBoost2 boost controller.
