When purchasing a new module does the part number have to exactly match? Ive found some with the same part number but ending with different letters. For example mine ends with BG and the one i found ends with AF.

I believe the year has to match I think 05-06 are interchangeble but all the other years are the same part number ending in different letters.

there are 05 and 06, 07, and then 08 and 09. 05 and 06 did not have tpms. 07 started tpms but has a different antenna for the keyless remote than the 08 and 09 model. The other difference is coupe vs convertible. then there is differences in how they were programmed. Just because it has the same numbers doesnt mean it will work....

Been retired and away from Ford projects but I doubt they have changed their design conventions used within their part numbering. Convention is four letter/number prefix covering year introduced and model used on, then a base number for what part is, and finally a two letter suffix for design interchangeably. An AB can replace an AA with no issue. BA cannot. In this case not having matching first letter mean it will not work.

Are both cars configured the same? without knowing that there is no way of knowing, as you could have identical numbers and it not work.

Doubt they are, cant i just reprogram at ford dealer?

is car equipped same as yours? without knowing that its hard to say how it is currently programmed as automatic and stick cars used the same SJB. If yours is a stick and you get one for an automatic, you will probably have to get it reprogramed at the local dealership... if its from a stick and your car is an automatic, it will need to be reprogramed also... the only way to know if it is going to work without programing is knowing its coming from a car that is equipped the same way yours is.

I had to get control module for my 05 mustang GT it’s an automatic I’ll put it in there and everything work start it up and everything but it won’t go out of gear. Does that mean I have to get it program or is there something wrong with my shifter?
