Which version
I am running the three helical gear unit that uses 31 spline axles. I chose this “lighter duty” TruTrac because I already have Strange 31 spline axles with C-clip eliminators. I called the Eaton tech line about running this diff. C-clip, less and was told no problem. Just do not install the spacer between the axles and do install the access plug and snap-ring. I was also told this unit is stronger than the axles. Driving, it feels like an open diff. but when I gas it, it spins both tires. I can not feel or hear any chatter like you get with slipping clutches and it launches straight.
You are correct, the heavier duty unit has 4 helical gears and requires 33 spline axles. I think they call it the T2. :)

The 'lighter duty version' is ample for my 2010 automatic with M90 blower...and 386 rwhp. For hardcore use, at least the HD version is available.... albeit 33 spline axles are required.
