I know the forum preference seems to be JLT Series III, but has anyone tried the
Airaid MXP Series Cold Air Intake with Yellow SynthaMax Dry Filter?

https://www.americanmuscle.com/aira...take-yellow-synthamax-dry-filter-455-172.html promises more hp/mpg, but provides no details. I've tried the ask a question function to inquire about hp/mpg & tune, but they haven't answered. I've asked Airaid directly, but rec'd no response.

I would think that I might get a little more airflow. I would think that if I get enough extra air to make a difference in hp/mpg, it would light up my check engine light in the absence of a tune.

Got any mods? (cams, ported heads, long tubes
If the Airiad is "tune required" CEL will come on without a tune.
Seriously doubt any mpg improvement. And gains (if any) would be near max rpms. How often do you run to red line.

It may have the venturi tube in there that keeps the maf housing the same size as stock. If that is the case you will see no difference in performance. If you have the insert removed you will need a tune, your car will probably not run as the airaid is like 101 mm tube.

When I had my "05" GT which was N/A, I ran the Airaid 451-172 performance air intake system that included the removable venturi insert which does in fact require tuning once removed.. When the venturi insert is removed, the MAF housing tube becomes 101mm in diameter and the vehicle can no longer run properly on the stock calibration due to the increase in size of the MAF. On the other hand, if you want to run the Airaid intake with the stock tune? you must then leave the venturi insert inside the MAF housing tube which then reduces the size of the MAF housing to the stock 80mm diameter. Just as 07 Boss mentioned in his post, you will see no difference in performance if you choose to run the Airaid intake with the venturi tube installed on the stock tune. The reason? The majority of the performance gains come from the performance tune which re-maps the timing, fuel, air and spark parameters. Therefore, unless the parameters mentioned have been re-adjusted in order to take full advantage of the changes made by upgrading to a larger diameter air intake which requires more airflow over the stock tune, there is very little to nothing to be gained by upgrading to an air intake system which is designed to run on the stock tune. Needless to say, you would benefit more by just getting a performance tune for your stock airbox and come out further ahead over running a non-tuned air intake system. Personally, I really liked the Airaid intake system for it's exceptional design and quality materials along with Airaid's exclusive lifetime warranty policy which IMHO you just can't go wrong with that lol. If your unable to get a response from Airaid via e-mail? I would suggest calling them directly. If there is still no response? then chances are it's more than likely due to the shortage of sales reps available thanks to the Coronavirus

My only mods are pulleys & shorties. Very rare that I get near max rpm.
Thanks!
