Is there an accepted protocol for testing basic fitness of the engine? Good mpg is a positive indicator. Our local truck stop used to offer oil tests, but no more. I have a compression gauge but do not have whatever adapter is used with those uniquely shaped plug seats.
IIRC, Roush promised 435 and consensus puts safe max for stock 4.6 3v at 450. Just making sure...

Compression and leak down tests are still the way to check to my knowledge.

You could either purchase the tools needed, possibly do a loan a tool at your parts store, or pay a trusted shop to do it for you.

Local Ford dealer has no tools, but a mechanic showed me his personal adapter [Mack Tool]. OTC #5607 is now on the way from JB Tools. Will let you know when I get it and do the tests.
Is there a specific tune that comes with the kit? All I have is the Bama handheld that came with the car.

I apologize to 555 if he thinks he wandered in to a chat room, but I'm trying to get up to speed on what is involved [parts, labor, tuning] in the M90 install. Google search gives me THIS:
https://www.roushperformance.com/media/parts/manuals/421099-421100-instructions.pdf
Is this pdf going to tell me what I need to know? If not is there another I can get to?
Thanks, Enfield
Ps. 555, those cartridges in your avatar look a lot like some of mine: .357, .38, 9mm. Close?
Pps. Still waiting for compression gauge adapter.

All cylinders 200-208 except for one that pumped about 185 and eventually got to 195. Will do a leakdown test on that one.
After reading some long-running threads, I see that this site allows colorful responses. My next post will be in New Users Introductions.

After a few trips to red line, it seems there was some carbon on a valve edge; at any rate, all compression is at 203 +/- 5 now. In a 2017 for sale post you mentioned that this was needed to install your M90 kit: https://www.steeda.com/steeda-billet-mustang-charge-motion-plates-555-3125.html . Is that still the case?
As Roush no longer gives direct access to the M90 install manual, I would need to see that and get some sort of guarantee that you can provide all the parts on that manual's list before we proceed. Can you do that?
Thanks, Enfield
