So I picked up a set of Boss Cams for my build. When I started checking the part numbers they are listed as:
2017 Ford Mustang GT, GT Premium 5.0L V8 - Gas
2016 Ford Mustang GT, GT Premium 5.0L V8 - Gas
2015 Ford Mustang GT, GT 50 Years Limited Edition, GT Premium 5.0L V8 - Gas
2013 Ford Mustang Boss 302, GT 5.0L V8 - Gas
2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302, GT 5.0L V8 - Gas

Maybe I should bump this. Without a doubt the 2015 GEN2 engines have Boss Exhaust Cams. It seems what your saying is GEN2s also has Boss intake cams. Then because the valves are bigger, it needs a phaser cam lock to prevent bent valves. A Gen 1 ECU can't handle this cam lock. So the recommendation from Ford to make a GEN2 to work with GEN1, a GEN 1 stock intake cam is need with GEN 1 phaser. The recommendation from FORD is to replace both Phasers and Timing Chains. The Timing Chain and guides are cheap at about $100 but the Phasers seem to average $140 each and you need four plus a standard cam at about another $150. So the fix would be about $1000. On the other hand, just replacing the Intake cam and phaser in both sides would be $600 unless you can find a cheap used set.
