$4000 gets you an engine w/160000 miles and a pcm and airbox. Thats about what I paid for my engine with 75000 miles, almost 4 years ago.

Still need a bunch of small stuff, tuning, pats delete, clutch (and probably flywheel). And trans work or buy his other trans.

I guess your definition of budget is different than my definition of it. I would go with an LKQ engine before FB seller. Hey, atleast he seems honest about the condition.

oh yes he is very legit. I got most of my small parts from him. I got my engine from lkq but I intended to rebuild first. but all that goes with this if you look.

They are readily available around Phoenix for around $5000 and they only have between 60-80k miles on them

There are two '13 coyote engines within 50 miles of my zip on car-part dot com. $3350 and $3850. Out of mustangs, not f150.

Curious if the 5.4 4v from the Lincoln Navigator/Ford Expedition are just as good, if not better swap options as the Coyote 5.0? especially when it concerns the early Coyote gen 1 engines

No VCT.
I want my VCT!
On the plus side, its likely an almost direct swap and you can use the 3v pcm with a tune, vct disabled.

The disadvantages of the 5.4 4V are the lack of VCT and longer stroke, which means that it'll have a much lower rev limit than the Coyote and less HP potential.
A Gen 2 Coyote with a CAI, ported Gen 3 intake manifold, LT headers, and 93 octane tune will produce ~460rwhp, deliver power all the way up to 7500rpm, still produce good torque at lower rpm, and not break the bank.

However IIRC, the 5.4L 4v from the Navigator/Expedition has the advantage of forged steel internals, where as the Coyote uses forged aluminum internals. Perhaps my question should had been if the 5.4L 4v from the 2007-09 Shelby GT500 is the same engine as the 5.4L 4v from the Navigator/Expedition without the S/C

Cams are almost certainly different. Heads are probably too. Tuned for torque to move that heavy navigator. Using it as-is in a mustang, I bet you would need a tall rear gear. High torque lower rpms.

Very good points indeed! Therefore it would appear the Coyote swap would provide the best bang for the buck swap with possibly the GT500 5.4L 4v as well, providing your fortunate enough to find one for around the same price range as the 5.0 Coyote 4v
