2005 Mustang GT. 57K miles. Car will shift into reverse normally to back out of driveway. But will hang up for a second when shifting into drive. Rev up engine a bit and it will drop into gear. It runs normally once warmed up. I had new TCI torque converter and fluid installed last year and have 2.5K miles on both. From what I read, it’s the solenoid block. Am I right?

Could be just a little low on fluid. I might throw a quart or two in there and see if it makes a difference. If not, drain out what you put in. Getting the fluid level right in these things are kinda subjective. I have found that after following the directions that a little extra fluid in there has helped when I had a lag in my 2nd to 3rd shift under low load.

But yes, it could be the solenoid block as well as a number of other issues. Transmissions are not my strong suit and this one is not your average tranny.

When the solenoid block went on my 2002 explorer (5R55W), I would shift it into reverse and there would be a delay, or sometimes you would shift to drive and there would be a delay so it does sound like the solenoid block could be the problem.
