@tjm73, My point exactly...they are uncommon and therefore he'll be different. Oh well, I like em.

Rich I’ll put them on ya if you want them lol. They’ve got brand new Goodyears on them.

Got the rear 5x7 mounted from the bottom yesterday. That was fun. Also got the sub box finished and installed. It barely fit. Had to remove the spare to get enough angle. I think that PPI amp is in trouble. It may have a slow drain on it - battery was dead when I went to start it yesterday. Everything is in, but it doesn’t sound very good. I’ve also got a touch of alternator wine. I’ll check the ground for that amp today, it’s under the rear seat. I can’t stand alternator noise, even a little bit. I can probably tune it enough to get decent sound, but I should probably replace the amp. That will be later though, I’ve got other areas that need attention.

Thanks James. I redid the ground for that amp, and it helped quite a bit, but there is still some. You don't notice it at normal listening levels, but it is still there. I'll check the article you linked.

Got the new wheels and tires mounted, I'll throw some pics up shortly. I also flipped the quad shocks while I was in there. I'm still trying to decide how much drop I want - I've got right at 3" of fender gap currently at stock height. Most of the SN95 springs are a 1" drop for the GT coupe, with the exception of the Eibach Sportlines - they are a 2" drop. A 2" drop would certainly look "better", but I may run in to issues with rubbing. I'll also have to get some CC plates if I drop it that much, which adds to the expense (the SVE plates are $135 with good reviews). I'm not going to be corner carving, but I don't want to be replacing tires every 5000 miles either.

Those wheels look fantastic and are just the right width. A ~1" drop all round would give the car a better stance, but you'll need to install longer ball joints e.g. Steeda X2 to correct the steering geometry.

Thanks guys! Drove the car in to work this morning, being extra careful to get some heat in the tires before I did anything silly (I've always heard summer tires are loose when it is cold, and it was at or below freezing this morning). Tires seem to be well-balanced.

Decided on the Eibach Sportlines, for a 2" drop. I had SR springs on my '06, and never quite felt like it was enough. As this isn't a daily driver, I think it will be worth it. I also got the KYB "gas-a-just" shocks, which are not adjustable. Not sure why they named them that. The stockers are shot, and these had solid reviews. I also ordered the SVE CC plates. That should allow me to get things back in spec. I don't think I'll have any rubbing issues from what I've been able to read on the interwebs.

Check the rear of your new front 17” rims for interference/rubbing on the control arm at full lock.

Got a decent Big 3 kit from Amazon, I think it was about $50.

I'm planning to install that this weekend along with shocks, struts, springs, and CC plates. Should be a busy weekend.

Not an uncommon issue rubbing at full lock after installing aftermarket wheels.
You can get steering limiter shims to slip on the inner tie rods.

Got the shocks/struts/springs/CC plates delivered today, grabbed them off the porch when I went home for lunch. I'll get some pictures tonight.

I'll check for clearance issues this weekend before and after the install. It's supposed to be cold as balls this weekend, but I'll be in the garage so it should be fine.

I'm thinking I might pick up a new amp to finish out the stereo. That old one I'm fairly certain is what is causing at least some of my noise, plus I can't tune the thing with the way it is wired up with the front channels being driven off the amp rear outputs. I can get a Pioneer 5 channel like I have in the truck for around $230, and I have been very impressed with it.

Pics to come....

Got the CC plates, shocks, struts, and springs installed. That took me 8 hours I'm ashamed to say, the first 3-4 on the first front I did. I watched MANY videos on CC plate install, shock/strut install, and spring install. However, none that I watched showed CC plates with aftermarket struts, they were all reusing factory hardware. I couldn't figure out how to get the top hardware configured to properly mount the new struts. I also left the bottom spacer out on the first install (read the instructions thoroughly, next time). So, essentially, I installed/removed the first strut assembly 4 times. At this point I took a break and went in for some lunch. I finally saw a video (I think it was from LMR) that showed an aftermarket strut being installed with CC plates. Basically, you ditch the factory bushing and washer, and just use another spacer and nut on the top. Bingo, now I was in business. So I headed back out and buttoned the driver front up. The passenger front took maybe 45 minutes total. The rears were uneventful.

Let me just say I feel like I've been beaten with a ball bat. 8 hours crawling around on the garage floor, up and down, and I'm still feeling it today. I hit the gym 2-3 times a week and do a full body workout, but man, I'm getting too old for this mechanic work.

All that to say, I didn't get the full 2" drop the Eibach sportlines claim. I'm closer to 1.5". Not a big deal, but I would like the extra 1/2". Eibach claims they don't settle, but maybe the isolators will settle some with some miles (I reused factory ones). I also discovered that my ball joints are shot. That's next on the list. The Steeda X2 claim a 1/2" drop if you don't use the spacers, so that may be route I take.

I did not attempt the Big 3 upgrade this weekend nor the speedo gear replacement. That'll have to wait.

I can relate with the crawling on my back on the garage floor. I'm buying a house this year and once I get it, the first thing I'm gonna do is build a small detached garage and put lift in it. My days of up and down off the floor are over.
