It may be quick and handle well but no one wants to wake up next to a donkey the next morning.
They are just plain ugly.

Took a test drive by myself in a 2020 ZL-1. The automatic is a little hard to control. Another test drive with a salesman on a 6sp was much better. I only got a "black key" drive in a Hellcat. That was a true waste of time. Last test drive was a Camaro LT-1 V8. That, at the time, was a really good deal with Recaro Seats but was kind of long legged with the 6speed. It was no ZL-1. I wanted a test drive in a new Mustang GT500 but the salesman thought I was crazy as they never give test drives in a GT500.

I wonder why the sales are so different. Is it the name? The new mustang and camaro look so similar if the picture on my screen is small enough I can't tell them apart. The low end models of each are very comparable.

I think if I had to choose and had money, ZL1. The GT5dingus is way too expensive and the hype turns me off.

Camaros are just ugly and uncomfortable for me. I feel like I'm sitting on the road and I feel cramped. They (along with the Mustang) have gotten so fat that they aren't really anything more than high powered touring cars. They're not muscle cars in the truest since of the word. The idea behind a muscle car was to take the smallest and lightest vehicle and shoe-horn a big ass engine in it. The big 3 today (Mustang, Camaro, Challenger) are so damn fat and include every gadget and amenity under the sun. I get that's the way the market has gradually shifted, but they aren't muscle cars. Once the Mustang started overeating at the buffet in 2010, it just didn't stop.

I would say the name is the biggest reason. GM has killed off the Camaro before and is about to do it again. The Mustang continues on every year without fail. If a calendar year goes by and you don't have a model to compete with the Mustang, then the Mustang takes all the sales and people continue to talk year after year about them. I don't think i'm too far off stating the Mustang community is much larger than the Camaro or Challenger community. Hell, MOPAR ignored their fans for well over 30 years before they brough the Challenger in 2008. All that time they did nothing to compete and Mustang and Camaro forged on. I think the turning point was in 2003 when the Camaro and Fire Chicken were killed off and Ford dropped the Terminator Cobra. They sold a shit ton of 2005 models with no competition. From 2003-2008 (a full 5 years) the only domestic muscle you could buy was the Mustang. That's a loong time to increase your fanbase.

If they'd bring back a retro version of the '68/69 Charger I'd buy one in a heartbeat. Loved that car. Truly a bad ass car and really did 150 mph.

My gf has a 13 Camaro v6 and I hate the interior and how many blind spots it has. It feels more like driving my crown Vic than a sports car. It has decent power and fuel economy though. Just to really drive the point home I think the interior is awful and designed horribly.

I am jealous of the big cube pushrod v8 under the hood. I wish Ford would put one under the hood of the Mustang. Don’t get me wrong, the coyote in my 17 gt is great and it loves to rev but it’s not the torque monster that a good old pushrod is.

I'm right there with ya on old pushrod power, I love it and miss it! If they redesigned the upcoming body to be smaller and re-tweaked the 7.3 with an aluminum block, I would look into getting a new Mustang. But alas, I'm just dreaming :(

GT5dingus? Hahaha, I like that name. You're right about the hype being a turn-off. The front end is so large and awkwardly designed that it looks like a large mouth bass. I haven't liked a Mustang body since 2009. They're so fat and heavy now and they just look ridiculous.

I hope the 6.8L pushrod rumors come to bear fruit.

A low deck 7.3 in all aluminum would be fantastic. Hell a low deck and slightly smaller bore (thicker cylinder walls) would be nice too since I'm dreaming.

It’s not even the fact that it’s a pushrod that I like, I’m thinking of Ford itself and the future of the Mustang. How much further can the coyote go before a need for more displacement? They need a big bore, large displacement v8 to stay competitive with Chevy and Dodge in my opinion.

I'm surprised the Challenger is still in production. It hasn't seen any radical redesign since it was reintroduced in 2008. They borrowed the Charger interior in 2015 and made minor cosmetic changes, but nothing radical to be considered a refresh. It's outdated by modern car standards. I wonder how much longer it will last. Not only that, it has about 1.25 million trim levels and it's a nightmare to keep track of what's what.

Which is the mystery to me. How do they keep selling the same old car, year after year, with minor changes? I guess their marketing team is top notch.
