I would say the name is the biggest reason. GM has killed off the Camaro before and is about to do it again. The Mustang continues on every year without fail. If a calendar year goes by and you don't have a model to compete with the Mustang, then the Mustang takes all the sales and people continue to talk year after year about them. I don't think i'm too far off stating the Mustang community is much larger than the Camaro or Challenger community. Hell, MOPAR ignored their fans for well over 30 years before they brough the Challenger in 2008. All that time they did nothing to compete and Mustang and Camaro forged on. I think the turning point was in 2003 when the Camaro and Fire Chicken were killed off and Ford dropped the Terminator Cobra. They sold a shit ton of 2005 models with no competition. From 2003-2008 (a full 5 years) the only domestic muscle you could buy was the Mustang. That's a loong time to increase your fanbase.I wonder why the sales are so different. Is it the name? The new mustang and camaro look so similar if the picture on my screen is small enough I can't tell them apart. The low end models of each are very comparable.
I think if I had to choose and had money, ZL1. The GT5dingus is way too expensive and the hype turns me off.

And you admit it?! You're a brave oneHey! I have a Fire Chicken. I didn’t like the way you said that. Lol
I'm right there with ya on old pushrod power, I love it and miss it! If they redesigned the upcoming body to be smaller and re-tweaked the 7.3 with an aluminum block, I would look into getting a new Mustang. But alas, I'm just dreamingI am jealous of the big cube pushrod v8 under the hood. I wish Ford would put one under the hood of the Mustang. Don’t get me wrong, the coyote in my 17 gt is great and it loves to rev but it’s not the torque monster that a good old pushrod is.
GT5dingus? Hahaha, I like that name. You're right about the hype being a turn-off. The front end is so large and awkwardly designed that it looks like a large mouth bass. I haven't liked a Mustang body since 2009. They're so fat and heavy now and they just look ridiculous.I think if I had to choose and had money, ZL1. The GT5dingus is way too expensive and the hype turns me off.
I hope the 6.8L pushrod rumors come to bear fruit.

I'm surprised the Challenger is still in production. It hasn't seen any radical redesign since it was reintroduced in 2008. They borrowed the Charger interior in 2015 and made minor cosmetic changes, but nothing radical to be considered a refresh. It's outdated by modern car standards. I wonder how much longer it will last. Not only that, it has about 1.25 million trim levels and it's a nightmare to keep track of what's what.
Which is the mystery to me. How do they keep selling the same old car, year after year, with minor changes? I guess their marketing team is top notch.Simple. They sell a crap ton of them still.
