Been trying to track down the problem for a while now. Driver side sub has a mind of its own. I've taken the door apart and checked all connections. Put a new HU in with one of those fancy crurchfield adapters.

The sub either works for 30 minutes not at all. I tried messing with the amp connectors and they seemed tight. Sounds great when it is working. So idk where to go to from here. No static or anything. Seems to always work if I pull it into my garage to test it with engine off. But never wants to work of I'm driving it.

Any ideas?

My advice is to bypass the factory amp and wire in new speakers directly from the new head unit.

I also have this problem. What amps and speakers would you suggest for the door subs as the originals are a low impedance dual coil.

That I couldn’t say I’m more of a novice when it comes to sound systems. Maybe others can chime in on their setups.

Its probably the driver amp, not the sub itself. The driver amp is up under the dash. You can find replacements on fleabay for not too much

So replacing with the drop in shelby's or any other speaker doesn't work. The problem is the amp is going out. Search for a used amp on ebay and replace it, I went four years before figuring out this issue and replacing the speaker was not it. Make sure you get the amp for the correct side since there is two, and they will have different part numbers between them. Should fix the issue, its common problem.

Edit: Used OEM amp, don't take hurdles to replace with aftermarket.
