Personal observation of repairs/modifications threads

I've read (too)many posts regarding modding.. lately its been mostly about cai installations, cai performance gains/losses/no difference, cai tune required/not required,..etc. But there are many more on a multitude of topics. I have been an observer not bothering to get into debates over these topics or subtopics with anyone. I make no claims to be a subject matter expert because I'm not.
When I bought my 2013 MCA edition V6 (named R.J. or Ruth Jane) in 2019 the "intake mod", like many others, was one of my first considerations. However, with all of the exhausting debates in various threads on car forums and contradicting youtube videos on the subject, I was left slightly more confused and undecided than when starting out.
So.. first chance I had to afford it I just went with the Airaid Jr. and a drop in filter. Mainly because of the more manageable price.
Regardless of negative or contrary comments in the threads debating cai's or this particular one I'll say, at least in my case it proved to be an improvement over my stock intake and it was just what I needed to feed the mod bug.. temporarily. I'm glad at my age to to have gained an improved ability to read between lines, consider sources and weed through the B.S.
Like many decisions on other matters I try to wisely weigh my wants against my needs. Even more so weigh my wants while considering available funds!
Ironically so it is for the "world of vehicle modifications" NOT a matter of needs and wants balancing on the scale of available funds but instead all about wants while figuring out the funds.. because we dont technically need to modify our vehicles for them to function properly.
So, ANYWAYS..all that above stuff being worked through before buying something and we think maybe for some insight, advice or reviews on a certain item from other consumers we should check the web.
Where we all too quickly realize to find any valuable insight, advice or reviews we must sort through sometimes decades of the same or similar questions and comments or totally unrelated content from various types or sources. The recent purchaser who asks questions that have been asked a hundred times because they're lazy to or haven't figured out how to search a forum before they submit their question.. many of us have done it back when we were newbs.. but most graduate from there but some don't.
Other types of members ask a question they seem to already know ..not one.. but many answers to already. They share what they consider knowledge which is no more than what they read in a magazine or heard a friend say or what their friend heard somewhere or from someone else.
Then there's other type A's (I'll call them) who have a bit of solid knowledge that "could" be helpful if properly applied except they're so full of themselves and their own opinions on ANY given subject. They figure alll because another has a masters degree in mechanical engineering (which obviously I don'tlol) still don't mean they know what they're talking about when it comes to something concerning the effect of temperature, air mass or speed of supplied air on the compression, detonation and the resulting energy produced in a naturally aspirated car engine. ?... really?
Yeah.. because the type A... grew up sitting on radiators while his dad worked on cars..he personally has tore down and rebuilt a hundred engines, has watched every episode of engine masters (is there such a show?lol) and has been a nascar fan their whole life! (Go Dale!). Lol
Don't even get me started on my thoughts of the trollers and baiters with their hypothetical and made up situations we all have to deal with online.. there's just so much insanity out here.

Some might say "I can't live".. with my car not going faster or looking like this or that but like I already said.. no one NEEDS modifications yet
THAT clouded mis-perception of need is the exact point where the real science and stats, data, dyno results take a "left turn".. and conflict.. with those feeling the need, the overly prideful, those with hurt feelings snd the arguments begin.
Too wordy and honest intelligence meets with rhetorical, hypotheticals and personal preference (aka blissfull ignorance, youthful inexperience or just plain stupidity).
The results of these ill-fated convoluted competitions usually leave everyone more confused and without the answer they were looking for... heck most are left without a clue of what the original comment or question even was! lol

More should practice knowing ..that like as a child among adults.. when in the company..or forum thread.. with others legitimately more knowledgeable on a matter than themselves just concede to sit back, shut your piehole and listen or read what they share..soak it in and if you have no legitimate questions or valid knowledge to add.. just move on.

Just my opinion and everyone has one... especially on the internet!!

So what are the before&after numbers on that CAI? Or was that increase in performance based on the butt dyno?

TLDR - Cliffs please

He wants what he wants even if people try to tell him it doesn't really do what he thinks. He swears it did but offers no proof it actually did. Thinks you should move on or stay quiet for various reasons if you don't agree. Just my loose as a goose take away.

I really didn’t want to be a dick and say something mean but I also did. This just screams troll.

Op this would make a great book or Yelp review but is pointless here. I wasted a couple minutes of my life reading what seems to be the inner workings of this guys mind about real world gains vs what people have read and regurgitated in threads about... cold air intakes. I feel a little stupid just replying to this to be honest.

Somewhat useful thread indirectly.
What you lose by replacing the stock intake is the resonator chamber, aka Helmholtz resonator, that increases airflow by damping harmonics. Makes more sense now why I cannot tell the difference in performance between a CAI and a stock airbox.

Maybe if he had some empirical data like dyno sheets (not the best), datalogs or track times then I’d take it seriously.

Bottom line, it’s been proven open filter cai’s will draw in warmer air thus pulling timing and limiting power. It’s science not witchcraft, it can be proven so if everyone else is wrong then by all means op prove it.

And Juice you are correct however most cai’s also have a larger maf housing increasing the volume of air. This can still be offset by increased intake charge temps.

Ok, so he bought a 2013 V6 in 2019.... and put a CAI on it....and saw.... " big improvements". I assume he meant butt dyno....and also assume the tune is still oem. But he didn't elaborate, so we don't know what the heck he really did.

He made a post calling ppl idiots?

And I have been monitoring intake air temps to compare. CAI is a few degrees warmer (less than 10*). So I dont think i take air temps make a measurable difference in power on mine anyway.
Will be comparing at the next track day, stock airbox vs cai. ;)

this thread needs more political salt

Due to the executive order killing the pipeline I think he needs to use vaginal secretions to lubricate his crankcase instead of synthetic oil because the semen of angels is too expensive and Dr Fauci has not approved a plan for Kamala to wear a mask when harvesting said semen from Trump...
How’s that?
