Maybe if he had some empirical data like dyno sheets (not the best), datalogs or track times then I’d take it seriously.

Bottom line, it’s been proven open filter cai’s will draw in warmer air thus pulling timing and limiting power. It’s science not witchcraft, it can be proven so if everyone else is wrong then by all means op prove it.

And Juice you are correct however most cai’s also have a larger maf housing increasing the volume of air. This can still be offset by increased intake charge temps.

1. There's no doubt that a CAI & tune produces HP/TQ gains on the dyno, but most of the gains come from the tune. The stock tune on the '05-'09 GT is very conservative (especially on early '05 models) and you can easily find as much as 20rwhp just from a 93 octane tune alone.

2. Dyno runs are usually performed with the hood open so even an unshielded conical air filter would breathe in ambient air. In the real world, a "CAI" without a heatshield would behave like a hot air intake, breathing air as hot as 160*F. Therefore it's important to isolate a conical air filter from hot underhood air by installing a properly sealing heatshield. Otherwise each 11*F increase in IAT results in a 1% HP loss just from the reduced air density alone, with further potential losses as the ECU reduces spark advance to prevent knock.

3. No tune intakes are a waste of money unless you really only want some underhood eye candy to show off to your buddies.

4. A CAI with a larger diameter intake tube will definitely need a revised MAF transfer curve, but it'll also support higher HP levels as you add more performance mods. You're basically allowing the engine to breathe through a bigger straw.

Due to the executive order killing the pipeline I think he needs to use vaginal secretions to lubricate his crankcase instead of synthetic oil because the semen of angels is too expensive and Dr Fauci has not approved a plan for Kamala to wear a mask when harvesting said semen from Trump...
How’s that?

I nearly pissed in my pants when I read that. :lmaf:

Pretty much what I was getting at just way more articulate. Couldn’t have said it better myself.

This was all about a 3.7 V6 CAI. Put 10 Mustang guys in a room and say which engine do you want in your Mustang and 9-10 of them will say 5.0, of course.

Isn't the point of a forum to share ones personal experience or opinion of a certain setup? What works and what doesn't? Even if the information comes from someone who knows someone with that setup? The OP is trying to discredit forums....on a forum! :headbashing:

RIP - You will be missed
Near as I can tell, OP has seen at most only a single reply in this thread, so this is probably going to fall on deaf ears.

For all we know, this is the first internet forum he's ever joined, and he didn't have much idea what to expect even "in general". Never mind a forum that isn't rigidly moderated to PG limits on content and tone. 11 posts in 3 months time doesn't seem like enough activity to "read" what sort of virtual 'club' this is.

I think he'd do well to figure out for himself which members he's going to get the better answers to what he seeks and spend less energy worrying about the way said information is 'packaged'.

I will note that understanding what's behind an answer may not lend itself to a Cliff's Notes sort of reply, and that the reasoning behind the answer may well be worth more than the flat answer itself.

It went terribly longer than intended I apologize for that. I can assure you I started out with a more succint point but I kept finding myself down a "rabbit trail". But I promise I definitely was not trolling.

Since writing it (and another like post on another forum) I realized that I wasn't more clear to my original intent because it appeared to be concerning cai threads alone and that's wrong but rather various topics and more to the point of the common forum members back and forth on the subjects. Like my post.. they can sometimes get out of hand. ;) again.. my apologies I would edit or delete it if I could but not sure how.
In all honesty concerning the resulting performance of the airaid jr. tube would be mainly by feel (or butt dyno) but without a legitimate dyno pull I shouldn't misname it as horsepower but maybe better response and smoother acceleration for now. But there was a difference be it slight to anyone else.

Not to run on again I will stop here saying I switched to a full MXP Airaid system and after my 3.73 swap Saturday morning I didn't like how it was acting without getting it dyno tuned so I swapped it back to Jr. Now I'm saving the $400 for the dyno tune.

Sorry for the first rant..got carried away.

With a 300 crank HP V6 engine, the engine only requires 450 cfm....at redline. A 91/93 tune may well wake it up, but any cai, even oem, should be able to handle that little airflow.

IDK, how about the same way she got it from Bobby Brown?

MPT 93 octane performance tune (prx93?) is what I am running but the sct tuner I also bought from them only has Steeda brand cai as an optional intake.
I do not have the inside diameter measurement of a Steeda cai to compare them but when I removed the Jr. tube and installed the mxp I can say R.J. did not like the change configured for stock box OR the Steeda setting.

Picture here shows the difference in the two Airaid products and the mxp is much larger so I'm pretty sure, going by what I've read here, I'm lacking a correct (dyno) tune which should correct this issue.

(Now if only I could retract the original post here!.. I've apologized ..geez)
