replaced fuel pump about 6 months ago, the gauge was never correct on the dash. After it got to about half tank it stopped going down. Then would be sporadic on the gauge itself until almost empty when the buzzers would go off. Just decided to live with it for the mean time.

Last week the car stalled like it ran out of fuel, put in 5 gallons and it fired right up when i went to the gas station i could only fit one more gallon of fuel in the tank and the gauge is reading full.

Drove the car for a few days and it shut down again, put 5 gallon in and it fired right up.

Looking for solutions

My wife's Flex had an issue with the gas gauge not reading correctly, the solution was to put a bottle of chevron techron II fuel additive on the next 2 fill ups, believe it or not, it fixed the problem, gauge reads correctly now.

As for the other stalling issue when there is fuel in the tank, my guess would be a short or maybe the fuel pick issue.

The first time I replaced my pump I knocked the crossover tube off the hat and she would run dry with 1/2 a tank in her. You're going to have to pull the pump again and check that tube. I have found that loosening up the tank straps and letting the tank down a few inches gives you a much easier time in angling the pump between the misaligned access panel and the actual tank. I think it was this prying and twisting and finagling the pump in there the first time that caused me to knock the hose off.

Legit advice, I messed up the sending unit, not doing this. I now do it .
