Both my wife's and mine got their share of fresh Amsoil 5W50 oil and new Motorcraft filters today.
On mine I tried to remove the cats to inspect them and see if they're breaking up (started getting a tinny rattle on accel).
Harder to do since I tack-welded the back of the cat pipes to the H-pipe, and the H-pipe was tack-welded to the rear pipes when it was installed. So I have to break or cut tack welds. And some of these tack welds look like full-on weld spots. After fighting with it for a while I decided my exhaust project/repair will have to be finished another weekend. I hate exhaust work, by the way.
And after this is all done I still need to put in a new thermostat since the lower-temp one in there started popping codes at the end of last year. Yaaaayyyy ...
Yes, it's filthy.

is that the 07-09 Ford racing strut bar hanging on the wall? Why isn’t that on the wife’s GT500!

Haha, yeah it is. Black KR strut tower bar with the "FORD RACING" imprint on top.

It's not installed because it won't clear the TVS, and if we spacer-it up, then it hits the hood.
So no strut tower bar. And she's just fine, can't tell that it's missing.

We're gonna be looking to sell it soon. Would rather not have to transport it when we move in a couple of months

I'm pretty sure we ran it for a while on her car, '08 GT500, when it had the stock blower. Stock hood.
I'll talk with the wife and get back to you.
Send me a PM about it so I don't forget.

Gabe, which brand are your cats? I forgot which setup your running lol.

Lol yeah I built all the shelves in the garage, and they're done in such a way that any plumbing pipes can still be worked on, if needed.
Also built more shelving for the large canvas tent out back, including repurposing some pallets for garden tools storage (thanks Pinterest for the ideas, lol)

I really like how you built and oriented your shelves Gabe. Everything is so well organized while saving space and providing easy access. That being said, job well done :waytogo:

Gabe! then I assume your referring to an aftermarket H-pipe? as the stock H-pipe and cats are integrated as one unit. If your not referring to the stock catted H-pipe? you may want to check your spot welds to make certain that none have broken. Also check your heat shields to make sure they're not loose nor too close to the exhaust. Otherwise, it could very well be that a portion of the ceramic substrate inside one of your cats is beginning to fail or break apart

I have stock cats but JBA H-pipe and Lethal Performance pipes, going to '11-'12 GT500 mufflers.
On the '11-'14 Coyote the cats are not part of the H-pipe, and they have no heat shields.
There ARE some heat shields under there, but they're attached to the body, not the exhaust.

I was suspecting that one of the cats was breaking up inside, but so far I have the driver side one out and it looks fine at both ends.
Really thought it was the passenger-side one, and I'm still wrestling with taking it out.
Made the mistake of tack-welding the back of the cat pipes to the front of the H-pipe, and the H-pipe was already tack-welded to the Lethal pipes, so kinda fighting welds that are not normally there.
I have a spare set of factory cats, the factory H-pipe modified so it's the same diameter all the way through, and I also still have the factory rear pipes, so if I have to, I'll cut shit up and replace with factory stuff.
I'm really leaning toward that anyway, since the factory stuff flowed well enough to deliver the 608 rwhp when I got dyno-tuned.

For some reason I assumed the cats were part of the H-pipe, just as the '05-10' 4.6 3v and '07-09' GT500 models were. Anyhow, that's what I get for assuming lol. As for the heat shields? I was actually referring to the ones attached to the body knowing that none are attached to the stock exhaust, so I thought that perhaps they may also rattle if they happen to be loose in anyway

View attachment 77033 Finally got to install replacement door panels on my 05. Slightly darker than existing, but the contrast looks good.

Are those by any chance the replacement door panel inserts from Coverlay? if they are, were their any fitment issues involved, such as having to trim sections of the door panel inserts?

I just got the coverlay inserts delivered a couple of weeks ago. Haven’t had time to clean all the BS glue that was used for the factory ones so I can install. Any tips on cleaning the old crap off?

They are inserts. I removed the old vinyl topping and the felt underliner. Scraped off as much residual adhesive as possible using a half inch wide wood chisel. I did not have to trim anything, but I did have to push down on the thin bottom part in] with a wooden dowel to get it in completely. It is glued with silicone. Once I had it in place, I weighed it down with a couple of small toolboxes and a bag of kitty litter overnight. They were from Amazon for $82. 9EE020FE-477C-437C-9B7A-72E00DE9107F.jpeg

At $82.00? They're definitely not made by Coverlay. The cheapest price I was able to find for the Coverlay inserts is $127.99 on carparts.com

Still in the process of cutting out my rusty floor...it's a PITA because of all the spot welds and working around the subframe. Got it about half done.

Also swapped out my ~5 year old E3 plugs (when I did my plugs they had the best deal on one piece plugs) for a set of Autolite HT1's. I've been having a slight hesitation at high RPM's in 3rd-4th gear and suspect the plugs were the culprit, I'm hoping so.

Also have a set of rear brake rotors to go on at some point. I've owned this car for 10 years and never put on new rear brake rotors. Get a weird rubbing sound coming to a stop so I think it's due for them.
