That’s exactly what’s happening. I think you’re right

Yes I have had this happen. It’s a pain. I have always had to cut them off. A die grinder can be helpful.

I tried using a Dremel but it seemed to be going no where.

Thanks everyone for their suggestions. I tried soaking it with PB blaster, impact, chisel, Dremel but the grinder worked
