Likely source of squeak?

So my ‘13 GT with Brembo brake package, has developed a squeak from I think underneath somewhere. Mileage is about 72K and the suspension is all stock. It only seems to happen at speeds of say 30 MPH and faster over slightly bumpy surfaces, usually just crossing a rough spot

Larger bumps at lower speed like speed bumps don’t produce the squeak. Similarly at highway speeds rises and dips that produce a lot of suspension movement don’t cause the squeak either.

My first impression was that it was coming from the rear somewhere but spraying every moving point in the rear suspension with silicone made no difference at all, not even temporarily.

Any idea where I should look? Thanks!

I actually just fixed a squeak last weekend (I think, I haven't heard it in places that I typically would... yet) that was driving me NUTS. A very similar scenario to yours, it sounded like it was coming from the back. It ended up being the rear upper shock bushings (Idk if that's the correct terminology..)

Jack up the rear and put it on jack stands. Then position your jack underneath the rear differential with a block of wood or a piece of rubber if your jack doesn't have one. Jack the rear diff up just enough to support its weight. Then unbolt both the rear upper shock mounts (just two nuts in the trunk, one for each shock, behind the carpet and above the wheel wells). Lower your jack and allow the rear end to hang. On my '09, that gave me 3-4 inches to work with before the rear sway kept it from falling any further.

Pull the washers off the shock bolts, and pull the bushings away from the body and lube em up real nice. Do the same under the wheel wells. I removed my wheels but I think you could get by without the hassle. Just make sure you pull the bushings away from the body and lube both the top and bottom of each of the four bushings (ask me how I know). Then just carefully jack the diff back up, making sure the bolts line up in the trunk. I tried to find torque specs for reinstalling the shock nuts, but all I found were people saying to tighten it until the bushing is even with the washers. I tightened them a little further.

Just to follow up, I have fixed this squeak completely! In another thread as well as in the troubleshooting section of the factory service manual it was mentioned the most likely cause to be the rear stabilizer bar bushings. Cheap enough to buy a new set of Energy polyurethane bushings and give it a try so that's what I did. Happy to report that this has finally eliminated the squeak.

Edit, I just wanted to add that I also tried lubing the upper shock mounts as suggested above, but unfortunately that was not where my squeak was coming from. Amazing how much more solid a non-squeaking car feels!

Ahhh...bushings = the source of many annoying noises, especially when they're worn out. Glad you found the source & fixed. Almost as frustrating as under dash noises.
