I know that everyone says to get a shorty mid pipe with long tubes, but what if I don't? Would I be able to saw my stock mid pipe and then clamp to fit them? I'm aware I wouldn't have cats. Might be a stupid question, idk. I would just rather not spend like $500 if I could put in some elbow grease and get the same thing out of it. Also if not, would I be able to use this cut and clamp mid pipe ( https://www.americanmuscle.com/pypes-0509-v8-xpipe.html ) from american muscle instead of a typical shorty mid pipe? If there's any other solutions let me know about those too, thanks

I mean anything is possible but unless you have the tools and know how you'll pay move to have all that chopped up and welded. What brand of headers did you buy? I know all the mid pipes have gone up in the last 6 months. Pypes O/R mid pipes were fairly inexpensive from what I saw over the weekend. Pypes and Kooks are inner changable. I have both, kooks quality is top notch but crazy in price.

Yes it can be done but you'll need to visit a good muffler shop that has the equipment to flare out the pipes in order to provide a leak free fit on the header flanges, and a pipe bender to create custom pieces that might be needed to bridge the gap between the header flanges and the shortened midpipe. A good TIG welder is also essential.

BBK are full length I believe so they will not inner change with Kooks or Pypes. Pypes and Kooks are the only ones that I know to be inner changable. They look exactly the same only pypes are polished but that won't last long. The ball sockets on Kooks seem to be better in my opinion.

So if you go BBK you will need the BBK mid pipe.

They all are a pain in the ass to install because of space but that's to be expected.

I was in the same boat as you not too long ago. Been trying to find a good deal on LT headers. I went with some I actually came across on ebay, $350 with headers and midpipe, and they have been amazing. Good reviews and quite a few sold. I'm not one to usually recommend or even run ebay parts on my car, but I took a risk with my headers and am loving them.
However, make sure your motor mounts are good, mine weren't and caused my steering shaft to contact headers. And there is a bolt on the passenger side that is quite complicated to get to, but worth it. Lastly, I would not recommend wrapping these headers due to clearance issues.
Best of luck and hopefully I could help you out!

20210417_141456.jpg Here's what I ended up with. I ran as much straight pipe as possible from the collectors before turning for x-pipe tie-in. Dyno proved a decent addition of torque with that 18"of straight over bending early. I just pulled this crossover and LT's off the car to put the stock manifolds back on for a turbo install. Which will be for sale btw.

Yeah I actually think I have seen these headers and the good reviews on them and all but i was still skeptical. What do you mean by “good” motor mounts? Also do you know if the hp gain is decent with these compared the others? And how do they sound?

If they’re for sale then let me know. I can give you my phone number or whatever you prefer if you want

I didn't realize I didn't attach the picture to that post. Edit is in. You probably can't pm yet. Not enough posts. I'll figure something out.
