Thanks, I’ll look into that. I do have an OBD dongle and a iPhone/iPad interface with selectable dashboard configuration but I’ve only used it for diagnostic information. I did add a boost gauge to the configuration, but I gave up on that because I’m sure it’s not accurate. It registers 15 lbs of boost and I know that ridiculous, so I don’t bother. Ford told me most of the sensor readings from the ODB port are inferred and can’t be relied on. I was planning to get an analog boost gauge installed, but due to health/surgeries as of late, I haven’t bothered to get ‘er done yet.

I'm not sure what numbers don’t jive, but I have figured out one error. On my dash gauges, I have an air inlet temperature that I have been erroneously thinking this is my IAT. Further reading seems to indicate there is a second air temp sensor and that’s the temp you need. I don’t even know how to read that temp. I can only assume I would have to datalog with my SCT. If that’s correct, I’ll have to figure out how to set that up. I’ve never done that.

I would be interested in your assumed conclusion. It’s light years ahead of my experience no doubt.

Your numbers didn't jive because they were to good to be true with your combo. I was assuming that you were reading IAT1 (which is basically in the air filter) not IAT2 (which is in the manifold post blower/IC). IAT2 being the one that matters. That the temp going into the motor. Looks like my assumption was correct. It's not uncommon for people to not know they're looking at IAT1.

Your IAT2 is MUCH higher.

I took my car to a well known speed-shop for all of it (the setup), so I had to trust local talent for install and tuning. They seem to have done a good job for the most part, but I have questions that I’m having trouble getting answered. The either don’t know, or don’t remember.

They should have played with the IAT transfer function in the tune so your IAT2 shows up on your dash. Not your IAT1.

The installer recommended the Roush Phase 3 Kit, I added the radiator upgrade, OPG/CS upgrade, HX upgrade, LTH upgrade, GT500 fan upgrade, Thermostat upgrade. My VMP HX selection was based on your (I assume you used to be squuid) recommendation some time ago.

Over all, my setup is awesome for a street car AFAIK, but if I can improve on it with a few more upgrades to the IC-System as a whole, then I probably will. I don’t race, and I don’t need to upgrade. I just like feeling that I didn’t leave a lot on the table.

-The radiator and fan upgrade were a waste of money unless you're road coursing the car......hard.

-I am the sqidd. Long ago the VMP HE was the best option. But with a lot more testing (which took years) I found that it simply wasn't big enough. Not even close. At the time there were no better options though so it is what it is.

For your combo and what you're doing with the car absolutely yes.

I wouldn’t want to modify my current IC. I’d rather buy one from you ready to go, along with a suitable pump, and HX all n one order.
That's my most popular system. Super Single, POWA pump, 1" lines. That's brackets, fittings, partial bypass plumbing, wiring, etc, etc, etc. That's $1575 shipped in CONUS. That will get you 11.25gpm of water flow. Which is slightly more than double what you have now. It will be a MASSIVE improvement. I can't call it bulletproof though (depending on how the car is driven). To get bulletproof status you would need the $650 intercooler flow mod. That would get you 18gpm. I suggest people go without the flow mod and see how it works for them and how they drive the car. If it's not enough, then you add the flow mod.

That’s figures. I’ll have to find another shop moving forward. I suppose not showing the IAT2 on the dash was either intentional or just lazy.

Not really a waste, it certainly improved my A/C output, and I wanted to lose the plastic tanks. I’d rather have the cooling system upgrade than not, even just for peace of mind.

To get bulletproof status you would need the $650 intercooler flow mod.

I’m not sure what the flow mod entails, I’ll have to check your webpage and see what that is. If that can be ordered and applied when ordering the above system, that’s what I’ll do. Right now I’m recovering from a major surgery, and when I’m past all of that, I need to address some suspension and driveline upgrades. Once that’s completed, I’ll be looking to place an order with you.

I was fairly sure you and sqidd are one and the same, but like anything else, you can’t assume.

Not sure if this helps any but just in case this is how I monitor IAT1 & 2. The first sensor is in the back of the elbow of the supercharger (inlet). The second is in top of the manifold at the base of the supercharger. Note I have a DOB Gen II intake manifold. I'm using a VLS OLED Intercooler Dual Temp Gauge to monitor air temps. Running temps between the gauges typically show a 25 deg temp difference when warm. My outlet/compressor temps run around 90 - 100 deg on the freeway (70 mph) and can hit 130/140 in traffic but cool off quickly once you get rolling again. When I punch it I usually see around 104 - 107 but I'm pretty conservative since the engine is still stock. I did opt for the insulated manifold. I'm also running a GT500 HE/DOB pump without fans. It's a good setup, runs great and reliable.

I should have used "unnecessary for IAT's".

This is the flow mod. I use the J2 units (no point in both of us making them). It involves you shipping your intercooler to them, they cut the front tank off and they weld on their own. You get it back with hardware/parts that increase the ID of the inlet/outlet. This is a pretty long and involved process. that's why I recommend that people do everything else first, see how it works, and if it doesn't do the flow mod.

Thanks for all the information. I’ll place my order sometime later this year, when my health improves. I intend to grab a supersingle, the recommended pump, TVS ready intake manifold /with IC/composite barrier, and I’ll have the flow mod done out of the gate.

I like to upgrade these things all at once, rather than picking away at it until it’s done. This helps eliminate downtime and shop charges. It’s not that I NEED all of the upgrades for racing or anything. I just don’t want to leave a lot on the table, and keep dragging it out. I don’t like the idea of so much power being pulled when it doesn’t have to be. I have to admit that I don’t particularly have that issue right now, but on really hot days, I sometimes feel that there is a little less power at the wheels, and I’d like to eliminate that characteristic trait as much as possible. Thanks again to all.

Re: fans on the HE..... why don't they work at idle, or in the staging lines ???

IF the HE, AC, eng rad were all shrouded correctly, the eng fan would/should, suck air right through the entire mess.

RE: water-meth. Carmen on the Roush forum used water-meth, and managed to almost empty the container after 15-20 mins on a road course. He installed a pair of 225 ml sprayers on the elbow of his M90 blower. A bigger reservoir would be the answer for that. A local fellow here in town uses water-meth. For street use, he sez it last 1 month, that's it.

That sounds like a plan!

If you're going to get the intake manifold you don't need the flow mod. The intake manifold/intercooler will flow way, way, way more than the flow mod will. If you get the intake manifold/intercooler you also won't have to run a pump that is as big/expensive. The manifold/intercooler flow so well a "smaller" less expensive pump will put out the same water flow.
